Sorry.. anwyays, I am fully informed on what "real emo" is, so I don't need to hear another "real emo" kid tell me about it... this "post emo" or "new emo", so people are still gonna call it emo... I don't flip out when somebody calls Shadows Fall "thrash" when they're really "post thrash"...

If you're not involved in the scene, then why do you care? If somebody told me "nu metal sucks" because they think I listen to nu metal when I don't, I'd be like yep.

And also, I have to say that screamo and those other emo bands you listed just fall into the emo category with all the other pop emo. For me, at least. You have to understand that nobody cares, at all, because we're not talking about back in the day, were talking about the movement now, thus making it irrelevent.

If I busted out an encyclopedia article about thrash or death metal to everyone who told yelled "SUICIDE KILL KILL SATAN" at me, where do you think that would get me? Nowhere.

And I know I am hugely involved with music and I know for a fact there are other people too. The point is, there is no point in defending such a stupid culture.

Emo is barely even music now, I never liked the music, but whatever, now its just kids following a few of the newer emo bands like fall out boy, its quite funny because I have no doubt emo will grow old and then everyone will feel completely retarted.
But also I listen to classic rock, and some rap, and skateboard, and smoke weed, but I dont see how THF can use shitty stereotypes trying to get us back.
In America and Canada, there are more emo kids Im sure than skateboarders, and classic rock people in a few years. So I think the emo stereotype is the best and easiest to sum up.

 

im dissapointed with this topic, i thought it was going to be about elmo, elmo is dope. but now i know what an emo is, im sort of in two frames of mind when it comes to these emo kids, i hate that they complain about being middle class and shit because i wasnt lucky enough to be middle class but i have never complained and never will because going without is character building and there are always ways to get money. but at the same time its just a fad and im sure the kids you see walking around with there black straightened hair will move onto the spandex fad next(god damn i hope spandex catches on) personally i respect anyone that is genuinely into something and really has a passion for it whether it be emo music/lifestyle, surfing, fruit booting, soccer or whatever. and if there were no emo kids who would we laugh at?? and suicide girls are so hot, most emo girls are hot too but they dont look at me cause i smile.

 

it's an easy way to get accepted. I've seen kids at school that eat lunch alone or with loners everyday gain popularity within weeks after wearing black and makeup. I don't mind them, it just pisses me off to see people following such a stupid trend.

 

lol okay. you're a fucking idiot. had you heard any of those bands you wouldn't lump them together. you know nothing about what you're talking about. they are about as similar as night and day. and I think you can just safely classify shadows fall as "terrible."

the reason you kids talk shit is because you have no clue about the real bands that exist, because they aren't plastered all over mtv and the radio, and that is the only medium for a lot of you to access music. the genre is very much alive, despite whether you've heard of it or not. just to prove a point, even after listing the real bands, you all just continue talking about fall out boy... a fucking boy band for 13 year old girls... which has absolutely nothing to do with what i said0, and sounds NOTHING like the bands I mentioned. it's not even slightly similar, but that's cool.

and then you have these kids talking about some slut at their little school... why the fuck are you rambling about that? go back to school kid.

I am not fond of the trendy fucks that have no originality or taste in music either, but it is extremely annoying to have the word thrown around when it is so misrepresented and you are into the REAL genre of music... as for all of the "gay" talk... are you all homophobes? fucking redneck trash, are you that uncomfortable with your sexuality? get over yourself. prejudiced people disgust me. I am heterosexual and white, but I don't have a problem with people with other sexual preferences or people of other races. why? because it doesn't affect me. why should I care? it really doesn't matter. most of you that responded have the mentality of an insecure 14 year old male. grow up already.

as for the suicide girls, some of them are hot, and some of them are pretty gross. there's a lot of overweight girls on that site, as well as some with just some ugly facial piercings like bridges and septums... yuck. an exgirlfriend of mine modeled for them. she was cute, but they have had hundreds and hundreds of girls do photoshoots... trust me, it doesn't take that much to get the offer. I know multiple girls that have had the opportunity.

and for the style.... who cares if someone wears tight clothes? look back in history and tight clothes have been popular in many different times, and it had absolutely nothing to do with sexuality. there were tons of straight guys who wore tight clothes and got plenty of girls, and the same is true now.

sure, some kids are just trying to fit in, but many just subconsciously develop a certain fashion style, because that is part of the scene they are involved in. with cultures today it is mainly defined by taste in music, what appeals to the opposite sex you are trying to attract, and sometimes hobbies or careers (ex: skating/surfing,etc.). it is all about what they are into. you can't instantly know somebody's motivations for dressing the way they do. they don't look like you. who cares?

I gave up on the actual music aspect of the discussion, because nobody here knows anything about it even after examples were given. just know that what you THINK is emo is not what it really is, and there are plenty of bands I mentioned that are still around today. again, I think music is a pretty pointless topic on this board now, because I haven't seen many people with taste with the exception of a few guys into some good indie hip hop.

I dunno... I just leave people alone these days. Dont get me wrong, I think they're whining attention whores most of them.. And if they knew what depression was, they wouldn't want so much attention put on them in the first place. They thrive on attention.
I dont like the music much.. And most of them like the music because of the haircut or the name.. Music isnt really about the name on your fucking t-shirt.. I would very much like to tell them to go to hell out of the blue, but I dont need that kind of attention either. hehe.

Let these people live their lives.. Stick in their own little cliques and bondage packs.. And hopefully they will just die out.

I have an opinion though! Or a theory, if you will. Some people get into the fake depression, little tiny scratches on their arms for novelty attention.. and the whole lifestyle, just to try it out and fit in with someone.. But when in reality they realise how full of shit it is.. They cant get out of it. They try, but they are afraid about losing the friends they have.. Or bought in to.

Unless someone is physically or mentally affecting me in school or in public, I leave them alone and keep my opinions to myself.

First, I'm sorry that if someone dresses in way that is common for homosexuals to dress, then they look like a homo. I *never* said there was anything wrong with that. I just said that a lot of the pop-emo kids dress gay, talk gay, and act gay. And if it pisses you off that when I meet someone like that and think "Hey, this guy seems kinda fruity", well, you're a dumbass.

I had some other stuff to say about how music should have *nothing* to do with clothing (I mean come on, does the music tell you how to dress?) but you're wound up way too tight. Get your panties out of a bunch, stop making hypocritacal statements, and don't take this shit so personal. I feel like I'm talking to the fucking PC police when I can't even say that tight clothing has been a staple for *female* clothing for a long time without someone jumping down my throat. Jesus tapdancing Christ.

 

I have to say, the "sub-emo" chicks who date skater guys and wear a good amount of eye liner to show off their eyes - they're hot. I don't care if they listen to emo, too. They're just the popular girls gone "scene". They don't go around wearing all black or scratching their arms.
