Illinois has legalized both recreational and medical marijuana starting January 1st, 2020. Illinois residents with a medical card can grow up to 5 cannabis plants at a time. Illinois is the 11th state to legalize recreational marijuana use. Over 250 Marijuana dispensaries could open up throughout Illinois by 2022. Illinois residents who are 21 and older are allowed to possess up to 30 grams of cannabis flower, 5 grams of concentrate and 500 milligrams of THC in products such as edibles. It's actually not clear whether or not a caregiver is allowed to grow medical cannabis for their patient, I'm going to call the Illinois Department Of Public Health and find out.. the information on the website only mentions "a patient’s caregiver may purchase and possess up to 2.5 ounces of medical cannabis from a state-licensed dispensaries during any two week period of time."

Illinois' medical program is a joke. I can only imagine the rec side is going to be worse.... And even without a card, you can grow up to five plants and only get charged with a misdemeanor if caught....worth it imo. Better off to Take the money you're wasting on an application and card and use it for a lawyer if you were get busted. Just my .02 Good thread though! Why is it a joke? They have dispensaries now that are just for medical and from what I read, Janary1 they will be rec/medical
The list of qualifying conditions needs a lot more illnesses/diseases added, there are many other states have on theirs that we do not. I'm also just not a fan of how our pilot program was written....being a pretty blue state I guess I just expected more from it....I mean by the time we had medical CO and WA had been legal for over a year and showing the rest of the states how to do it. But we didn't follow suit, I feel like we may as well be an illegal state still given price and availability. One of the many reasons I'll be getting out of this state sooner rather than later. If you like vape pens that are outrageously priced then you need to try the double barrel. This thing has the best flavor I have ever got from a pen even with a multiple hit session or a couple large hits it still comes out with delicious thick smoke unlike any other pen.
The dispensary weed here is stupid expensive and from what I've seen it's nothing special. A lady I know showed up at the tavern last week with a fresh pickup from a local dispensary. Looked 7 out of 10 but tasted like straight up brown dirt weed.
There is deffinatly 2 class of growers out here for medical. Top quality products in il come from gold leaf, the company grass roots has some really good flower too. My guess is since our prices are around 55-60 for gold leaf, she went with something from nature's grace which the company does not care much about quality control.
I have another buddy that picks up at the milan dispensary. Nothing he's ever shown me was note worthy. Hes not cheap so I dont see him price hunting. I worked on the dispensary there as it was being built l. It was built with expansion in mind for when rec goes legal.
I will agree that there is alot more crap here than good that is for sure. Other than flower gold leaf has some stuff they call sunrock shatter and I have never had a bad batch of that, every time one nice solid chunk of honey looking gold shatter.
I'll check out dispensaries once it's rec legal but by the looks of it I'll just keep doing what I've been doing and growing my own. I admit I got a pretty good kick out of it when the lady brought that shitty dispensary bud to the tavern and everyone was passing on it and smoking my homegrown.
The company that I think is the worst is the only company that sells shake,Then they come out with this shit they call popcorn/shake. So the first time I bought some popcorn buds of sugar black rose and I was very impressed for the first time by this company, so what do I do when they restocked them the next week.. . I bought 2 more of the 1/2 oz popcorn and this time omg, there was not even enough nug to form any part of a solid nug. I mean come on even my smallest popcorn get a little head nug on um. Lol fast forward to last week when my girl comes home with some new stuff for us and I get all excited.... then she pulls poopy nature grace bottle from her sack ugggghhh. So this time the supposed popcorn buds were actually just over dried not cured weed that disintegrated to dust in a squeeze.
The misdemeanor and fine are not the problem , the problem is they are going to confiscate all my lights,fans and previous harvest. Might be able to avoid that for a couple hundred $.
