Drug agents urge opposition to medical marijuana bill - Beacon News It is about time it come's back around for a vote. I hope it pass's and Bipolar is on the list for a card pot's the only thing that keep's me from killing myself during my bad depression fights. Not sure how many of you understand how hard it is to live with bipolar where you sit there with a gun in your hand or standing on a build roof fighting the urge to jump. If the bill pass's it could help so many and I find it funny the cop's saying the have our drug's under control in aurora when I can make 1 phone call and get any thing I want any kind of drug. Pot is so easy to come by here more then likely ask anyone in aurora and they know somebody to get some.
Very true, and Aurora's not alone in that. All us n/s western burbs have top notch, anytime access. Selfish politics are the only thing that can stop 1381 according to Lou Lang, as he said "If everyone would vote their conscience, I would have 30 votes to spare on this bill, but a lot of people are afraid, and they're afraid for no reason at all." man it's gonna be close, and it will be soon, within the next week and a half. Could be #16, but then again I thought originally we would be #14. Then NJ beat our worry-about-the-sick-later politicians to it, then D.C., now the voters of AZ. It's been 18 months since it passed the house. Let's stop this too-scared mentality Illinois!! Blaze on
I hope this passes!!!! I have been planning to move after graduation to a state that already has medical marijuana legalized, but hopefully i can stay right here in Chi town and enjoy great weed prescribed for me for the rest of my life
I heard that they are hoping for it to get voted on, on the 29th or 30th but its not for sure yet. this is a link to a article i found, it also includes a link to email your represenative to urge them to vote yes. Illinois
Exciting-- does anyone know what happens after house and senate both approve? I don't know as much about state law as federal-- does governor get a sign/veto decision?
if you google the bill # + Illinois you can get all the details. I skimmed it, it's the big ticket ailments that we've all heard of. Nothing too out there.
I think then it goes to governor quinn and I thought I remember reading something saying that he supported it. so hopefully we can win over the senate.
If we do get this passed then this will be a big step in MMJ Reform! Just another midwest state to add to the list. Here in another 3 years there should be another 5 states having MMJ and others thinking about it. Its just a matter of time ppl! Keep your fingers crossed!
This bill is fantastic. so many good things about it. one of my favorites is it allows for caretakers to grow for those in need. everyone should contact their elected officials and urge them to pass this. house has already passed this, only the senate vote is required.
I posted in the other thread about this, but I will post it here as well. It should come up to vote with other controversial bill at the end of this month, as the House attendance should be much better than what it was this past week. What condition are you living with right now? And just a reminder, this is a 3 year pilot program, which means if we mess this up by taking advantage of it the program will not be renewed. Why the negativity? It's VERY close so far, the opinions of our Reps are being swayed back and forth by lobbyists, this is why it's so important for everyone to have serious conversations with their representatives! They need to know that there are patients who truly need this in this state, they need to meet with the patients and see how it really helps people, they need to see that safe access for patients is more important than their fears that people are using this as some form of quasi-legalization. It's been passed through the Senate, but after the House votes it will have to go back through the Senate again due to the amendment from the House which was merely a date change. This means it should fly through the Senate, no problem. That's why we need to hope that the House votes on it as early as possible to ensure that there is still time on the 30th or the 1st to pass it through the Senate. At that time it's sent to Quinn's desk where he said he would support it. We're lucky Brady didn't win or there would be no reason to hold any hope for medical cannabis in this state. After all that, we just let the Department of Public Health iron out the details. I suggest reading the bill it truly is an easy and quick read. Not a perfect bill, but definitely better than some other states. Illinois General Assembly - Full Text of SB1381 There is no list. It will probably start off a little slow, with only very severe medical conditions. But the bill leaves it open for many conditions really...but we don't need any of the "oh, doc, my back hurts can I have some weed" people right now, it will only mean that after this program expires it won't be renewed:
Sounds like the vote will be happening tomorrow, let's keep out fingers crossed. Also, apparently Montel is going to be there as a last-ditch effort to sway the representatives to vote for the bill. Should be an interesting day in Springfield tomorrow!
so if the bill passes tomorrow how long will it be before it actually go's into effect? it would be so great to be able to get medical grade pot safely in illinois
This will be in my prayers today, it would be wonderful if it passed. If Illinois and Minnesota legalized medical marijuana in addition to Michigan, Wisconsin would certainly have to address the issue and perhaps Iowa and Indiana would too!
It still has a small chance in January, it's not the time to give up, but if it doesn't pass in January it's dead.
legalize mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!! if chicago can legalize mary jane, any city can. fricken chitown is strict as fuck.
