IL medical marijuana bill

Discussion in 'General' started by senior_ganj, Mar 6, 2007.

  1. Here's a nice little synoposis :

Amends the Cannabis Control Act. Provides that when a person has been

diagnosed by a physician as having a debilitating medical condition, the

person and the person's primary caregiver may be issued a registry

identification card by the Department of Public Health that permits the

person or the person's primary caregiver to legally possess no more than 12

cannabis plants and 2.5 ounces of usable cannabis which must be grown in an

indoor locked facility. Provides that within 30 days after the effective

date of the amendatory Act, the Department shall adopt emergency rules to

implement these provisions. Creates a task force to implement permanent

rules. Provides that if the Department fails to adopt rules to implement

these provisions within 6 months, a qualifying patient may commence an

action in a court of competent jurisdiction to compel the Department to

perform the actions mandated pursuant to these provisions. Provides that a

municipality may not prevent a registered organization from operating in

accordance with the amendatory Act in an area where zoning permits retail

businesses. Limits home rule powers. Effective immediately.

It's in the senate today at 1.

  6. Good luck citizens of IL! :hello: I've been fortunate to live in a pro- mmj state. But its only the begining:smoking:

  7. omgggg i hope they do the right thing!

  8. I moved it to General, as it's not really about medical marijuana, but rather, a bill that would pass it in IL... So yeah... General is where it goes unless an admin thinks otherwise :D

  9. Thanks cottons :p

  10. No prob... Lots of political shit in General, so I figured it'd fit right in here... Plus General usually gets a lot of views, so it shouldn't have much of a problem being seen :D

Good luck to you IL folk! I wish PA would get on the ball and approve it for medicinal use. I've got all sorts of shit that I use it for (medicinally), and it'd be good to finally be able to do so legally, ya know?

  11. Oh my god. Oh my god. I wonder how it did?!?! This could be Illinois' step into decriminalization!!! :D :D :D

  12. Hey Hey Hey. Got an update for all those IL tokers

  13. Thanks, Senior_Ganj!!! :D:D

This is terrific. I just hope this goes through...

  14. Hey,

At last, politics Im actually interested in :D. This could be the best thing ever for me, honestly. So, how far along in this thing are we atm?

  15. It's going to the Illinois senate tomorrow . That's the first place it is being voted on.

Lets all hope for the best. I wanna be #12 :D

  16. I really hope we do the right thing, here. It's a shame our state is so rough on marijuana offenders.

  17. I know seriously! We're supposed to be really democratic, but a $2000 fine and up to 30 days in prison for a gram of marijuana doesn't sound too liberal to me...so lame.

  18. I'll put all my money on that being the reason it passed the public health commitee. It passed with a 6-4 vote. There happens to be 6 dems and 4 republicans. Coincidence... I think not.

  19. Jesus Christ! That's fucking outrageous! We have similar laws here in PA, but they're not enforced to that degree... Our max is $1,500 fine and 30 days for misdemeanor possession (30 g's or less), BUT it's more likely you'll just get ARD (non-reportive probation) and court-costs... If your lucky you'll just get a summary offense (like a disorderly conduct charge) and a fine.
