Ignorance today...

  1. I get nearly furious when i hear people saying "dude you will trip balls" or "you'll hallucinate you're ass off" in response to psychedelics. for instance, a friend of mine, who knew essentially nothing about LSD took it for his first time, all he could really say was "i tripped balls" wheeee, thats all well and good, but he completely missed the point. You can look at acid or other entheogens as many things. The two ways i see it most often viewed are as a Door, or a Key.

People who look at it as a door see it as an instant ticket to hallucinations, odd thought processes, and other shallow views. They dont have respect for it, oh, they know that there's a possibility that it will change their views on things, maybe even change thier life, as it has many individuals, and if it doesnt, i wouldn't doubt it's because that thought was in the back of thier brain, and what was in the front?..."dude, im gonna trip balls!"

Those who look at it as a key, most often have a better knowlege of it, even if they havnt taken it yet. What does a key do? Duh, it opens things up, thats what it will do to our brains. It will offer you the chance to explore previously locked areas of the brain. It will be chaos, but beautiful chaos. These people will respect it, and fear it. When you look at it, fear and respect are basically the same.

Aaaaaaaaaaanyway, to those who dont, learn to have a little more respect for such powerful substnces. And also keep in mind that acid, salvia, shrooms, mescline, are just have the equation, the other half is us.

  2. i don't really get this thread.

they're not ignorant, they just have a different outlook on things.

and i think your outlook is kind of dangerous. fear and respect? you're bound to have a bad trip if that's your perception. the most famous users of hallucinogens would be described much differently.

im an advocate of perspectivism and i think the people who are genuinely excited about "tripping balls" and having a cool experience perhaps without profundity should be left to do so. it's the people who "fear and respect" such drugs who most likely have a lot of baggage and wind up having bad trips and then passing on their own fear to others.

those who fear lsd and mescaline are most likely to have a more profound experience because they got what they expected. people who are curious, fascinated and eager more often than not have great time on such drugs with less profundity than those who dread a bad trip.

personally i think you sound pretty pretentious.

  3. I think you misunderstood his use of the word fear. He means that alot of people use acid and other hallucinogens just for tripping balls. They never realize that there's so much more you can get out of it than just "tripping balls."

  4. i like your sig phiegnux

the more consciouss or the more intellignet a person is the more they will get out of their psychedelic experience. if someone is dumb i bet they will trip balls, if someone is smart they will have a life changing experience.

so be smart, knowledge is power. read the link in my sig it has alot to do with lsd and the psychedelic experience, hence the title.

  5. i was gonna click on this thread, then i though,... no way, i don't want ignorance, i hate ignorance, so i paused, then thought, wait, wouldn't that be me ignoring it.... and so i was trapped in a web of my own creation... hehe, a small web though. i broke free.

    quality post pheignux,
all until that crap about fear and respect being the same. i've had an utter lack of respect for most of the things i've feared. heights being about the only one i can think of where the two reside together.
Powerful psychadelics are indeed, not a toy, nor a fun thing to get up to to have a laugh and a giggle and disrespectfully munch away on to get a brain tickle, it is much, MUCH more than that. seeing kids run around trying to get mushrooms to have a "really cool trip" unaware of the potential before them really irks me. it's not a "recreational" drug, it's a "teacher" drug.

    ps- http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=define:ignorance&btnG=Search
i think google must be getting more censorred, or the website that had the best definition isn't showing up. Best line i read on it was something like "a willfull disinterest in knowledge".

  6. yo man great words, i know you know

but apparently i'm a tad busy to convey my entire response to your thread...

    (i'm on adderall  )

    :hello:
    see? almost..... hehe

  7. the only way i mean that fear and respect are nearly identical, is in the way we look at things, or people. for instance, if you respect someone, you're not gonna say something to piss them off, are you? and if you fear someone...yea, same deal. i can see how someone can object, cause i fear the death of my family members, but i dont respect it.
