if...then but what... if and only if... still then, but if and only if... still no... 'if' and only 'if'... why then if if... but not if for if's sake? (sorry, hash oil and afterglow ...had to write something pointless and spontaneous...the word i couldn't remember last night!...i thought of simultaneously and broke it down to try and build the other word i knew existed in meaning...it didn't work...and now it spontaneously came to me...yay sleep?)
Lucy is beautiful girl indeed. If only we didn't need words to communicate. Like how we get an idea before we put it into words it's just a thought.
If/then, if and only if, etc are examples of conditionals. In logic, we study the relations of entities within a particular framework. A framework of conditionals. There are even things called counterfactual conditionals, or conditionals for which the antecedent will never hold in any possible world. For example, "if i were someone besides myself, then i'd be confused". would be a situation where the consequent, "i'm confused" may be realized, but it would be impossible for me to ever be someone besides myself, so the antecedent can never be true, and therefore we know we're talking about a counterfactual conditional. Interesting stuff really. Try to imagine some kind of truth that isn't contingent on something. Can't do it. Conditionals are a big part of what helps us to understand the world given that our ability to perceive it is limited. This has been your daily philosophy minute w/ mr goodsmoke.
