If you decarboxylate weed, can you then ingest it and get high without baking it into something?

    Once weed has been ground and decarboxylated, do you actually need to bake it into something, or could you, for instance, stir a little of the ground weed into a drink and just swallow it down to get high? What I mean is, is the baking an indispensable part of the process?

    Thinking about, for instance, the increased effectiveness of a prescription medicine like diazepam or morphine when ground up and then taken in water, surely the same would be true for ground decarboxylated weed? As I understand it, the weed is fully active as soon as it’s been decarboxylated, right?

    What I’m thinking is, if this method would increase the effectiveness compared to baking it into a cookie/brownie etc., then less weed would have to be taken at a time, so it wouldn’t need to be bought so often (important when you’re on a budget) – but I don’t want to try it and waste good weed!

    If anyone has any insight on this, I’d be really grateful for some replies! Thank you very much for reading.

    You can get high eating straight up decarbed weed/hash :smoke:

    Thank you very much! Would the taste be very bad, do you know? I'm asking for my brother, and he's quite sensitive to that sort of thing, so we were wondering if it could be disguised a bit if we used something like apple juice to mix it into? Thanks again.

    People mix it with foods/cakes ect because it's easier to stomach :confused_2:, some methods will get you higher such as butter/tincture/caps ect ect, @PsychedelicSam & @BrassNwood will be able to help more then I can :confused_2::laughing:

    I just make basic hash cookies when I make edibles as it's the easiest thing for me to do:smoke:

    Edit: I'd say tincture or caps if you want no taste/something you could mix into a drink :confused_2: I'm just going on stuff I've read online/on here but I'm sure someone will be able to help :smoke:

    Thank you again -- I think it might be worth him giving a little a try, and if he can't stomach it, go back to edibles like we usually do!

    Two birds one stone, grab a gram ish of weed, graham cracker and peanut butter. Spread peanut butter on cracker sprinkle broke up weed on top wrap in tinfoil bake for 30 minutes at 250f. Decarbs the weed and tastes better with peanut butter.

    Eating dry decarbed weed dust is a 5 on the scale.
    Infusing to an oil makes it a 7.5
    Infusing to an oil and Lecithin make it a 10 of 10.

    Decarb 240 F for 40 minutes

    5 grams decarbed Kief, Hash, Concentrates, Powdered buds
    1 tablespoon Coconut oil
    1/2 teaspoon Lecithin
    Combine
    Heat 220 F for 20 minutes
    Freeze
    Heat 220 F for 20 minutes.
    Done.

    15 grams of Kief.
    3 tablespoons Coconut oil
    1.5 teaspoons Lecithin.

    This is done with Kief but it's the same exact recipe for any form of Cannabis.
    Fill capsules with it. Eat a few drops direct. Put some on foods. Add to more oil to bake with.

    1 gram street grade weed = 150mg of THC
    1 gram Kief or Hash = 500mg THC
    1 gram Concentrates = 900mg THC

    If you grind the decarbed weed into a powder and stuff it into capsules "your brother" won't taste a thing and it works just fine. If you don't have tolerance start with about 0.1g/cap and adjust for effect.

    Thank you all very much! I completely forgot I posted this, so I'm sorry I didn't reply until now. I'm tremendously grateful for all the help!

    LOL, it really is for my brother -- when I have weed, I just smoke it, but my brother hates smoking. He LOVES the capsule idea though!!

    Would it be all right if I could ask you your advice on getting that mixture into capsules? What do you use, and do you find when you're putting it into capsules, it runs down the sides much and leaves a residue on the outside, or anything like that?

    I work with 160 micron Kief I shake from the buds I grow.
    Powdered buds get the job done well enough it'll just take 3x as much for the same effects as the Kief-Hash based oil.

    It is fine enough to flow in an eyedropper after mixing with oil.

    Powdered buds are a bit more work as I used a wine bottle and a granite surface at first then rubbed the dust through a fine steel mesh to get a small enough particle size to flow well.
    If it keeps clogging an eyedropper you can use a plastic pipette rather then a glass eyedropper.

    Thank you very, very much for your reply -- that does sound a little more complicated with powdered buds, but we have a pestle and mortar so I think it's worth us trying it!

    Also, just out of curiosity -- why in the recipe does it need to be heated, then frozen, then heated again? What's the chemical reaction? Thank you again for your help.

    I decarb mine with the nova decarb cup and put it in a glass herb grinder and garnish my food with it. Even take it to restaurants

    More like this set of graduated screens.

    The freeze step is a physical change as it softens the kief-bud powder. I let the capsules melt in my mouth as I love the taste of the Coconut oil-Kief. It's like a little dollop of a creamy nut butter. Without the freeze it's a bit on the gritty side. Like somebody dropped your hot dog in the sand at the beach.
    The freeze removes that gritty mouth feel and smooth's the end product. It's an optional step and it and the second heat can be skipped as you please.
    It help breakdown the particles as well and makes capping with an eyedropper a bit easier.

    What mesh you work with will be determined by the bore of the eyedroppers you have. I've tried Syringes of all sizes, Pipettes and kept getting frustrated and going back to eyedroppers as it's the best for the fine one drop at a time control I need when I fill the caps. 150 micron and smaller should work with a standard off the shelf eyedropper.

    I use a small cheap electric coffee grinder, you can find them well under $20 and they powder the weed very nicely and almost instantly.
