good thread! i'd probably eaither head top the country, somewhere with lots of wide open spaces and green rolling hills where you can sit back and watch the sunset as its golden rays kiss the land goodbye or.. the coast, like a real nice beachy area!! i would truly love this, although the ensuing chaos could be hectic, i would avoid it though!! Just somewhere peaceful and blessed with natures gifts! Your own little world that could be anything... i will find one of these places one day, society doesn't have to end for this to happen!!
Already live on a small [3 acre] plot that backs up on 44 acres of woods, and am reasonably happy here. We already have a flock of chickens, guinea fowls, ducks and geese, all I would really need is a ram and couple ewes. I would like a couple years lead time if possible so I can buy and plant a selection of fruit trees, and use an actual tractor to break half an acre for a veggie garden. Personally, I would like to move to a 9 acre property once owned by my grandparents as a summer residence in the US. 600 feet of lakefront, and it already has a lovely 3 bedroom craftsman house on it that is one story so I wouldn't have to deal with stairs. The orchard is thrashed, the jackasses who bought it have done almost nothing towards upkeep on the property. They bought it about 25 years ago as investment and the property market died for vacation properties. It has a 1 acre plot of land that used to be a tennis court that is surrounded on 3 sides with 10 foot tall chain link fencing that could be finished off fairly easily for use as a reasonably theftproof garden or paddock. The orchard could perhaps be brought back with a lot of TLC, or at least replanted. There is an area of another half acre that had been used for a veggie garden by the orchard and a small fenced yard that would be perfect for poultry. It has a good deep well, though the water if not pumped frequently gets a bit sulpherous, and would not be difficult to modify for a water ram style pump, or a windmill style pump. A tweak to put a wood burning cookstove on the side porch, or in a small detatched cookhouse and it would be good to go. [the detached cookhouse would be to prevent the full property from burning in case of a fire. Kitchen fires used to be one of the most prevalent ways colonial houses burned down.] There is almost enough land to keep a cow and calf to have milk and beef, if we could breed with one of the local farms bulls. Certainly room for a boar, sow and farrow of piglets.
I think I'd be pretty good right where I'm at. I'd have to look into getting some horses for transportation when the gas supply dried up but I have water, food, land, guns, tools, crops, fish and game, pretty much everything I need to get by.
i have enough dry beans, rice, and cured meat, MRE`s and water to sustain up to 4 people for a year, ive got a few cartons of smokes, and a few bottles of high shelf whiskey, antibiodics, vitamins. and more than enough rifles, and enough ammo to trade for food and water if i need to and not hurt from it, im glad i got into handloading, ammo is a complete non issue
We should all band together and run a giant pot ranch. I took the liberty of making our flag. Look past my shoddy paint skills.
I'd bail to North Dakota or some other great plains state and live off the land. And grow a ton of weed of course. I'd also loot the Big 5 near my house of al guns and ammo and any equipment i'd need.
fortify a wall mart plenty of supplies also security cams everywhere you know whats goin on before it happens ya dig
The problem with WalMart is you would probably lose electricity pretty quick and there's massive amounts of produce, meat, frozen food, bakery, and dairy that would rot. The stuff you see in the store is just a small percentage of what's stored in the back room. You'd have to haul all that crap very far away from the store before it went bad. Personally, I'm too damn lazy to do that
I was kind of thinking of taking refuge in a military fortification. I mean, hell, i live a few miles away from a major airforce base. Walmart would easily get overrun. You don't think other people haven't gotten that idea too? We need solid concrete and weapons. If we got some mechanics there, i'm sure we could get a few vehicles working.
LOL, LOL! loot a gun store if they had the chance, the owners have moed anything youd wanna steal out, or theyd be protecting their shit, and even if you made it into the store alive there would not be shit to take
Big 5 isn't a gun store per se. Its a sporting goods store. I'd wager $20 bucks that the sales associates wouldn't be mowing down folk. As for all the good stuff being gone when i get there. Thats a possibility, but Its literally within walking distance to my house so i think i could get there before others know whats up. And if i were stealing guns from it, I'm driving my truck through the storefront hopefully dissuading peeps from getting in my way. I've thought this out. They haven't. I've got the element of surprise.
