If Only..

  1. If only our species could choose and declare our individual time of experation.

Not rather choosing our deaths, but reaching a point in life, for whatever reason, one could simply shut down and end their life.

Suicide would seem rational, except for the devastating impact it has on those surrounding the individual.

Instead a culturally accepted and perhaps celebrated departure of existence.

No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun -- for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax -- This won't hurt.

  2. Good ol Hunter...

Sounds like you're a bit depressed, my good man

    Or maybe just speculating

But yeah I think that would be pretty cool, especially because you would know before it happened, so you could make closure with everyone.
"Hey man, I'm leaving in a week... I think we should catch up"

    instead of

"I just wanted to let you know John passed away last night"

Oh well, indeed we must forge ahead into the great unknown!

  3. I admit I wasn't in the best state of mind when I wrote this. Nor have I been feeling myself lately.

Don't worry though, I'm not going anywhere.

I just like to face my emotions head-on, hope nobody minds my somewhat morbid flirtations.

I am in a much better phase of mind now, and I think posting this helped :)

P.S. -- I've always felt close to Hunter, I've always enjoyed his writing. The way in which he met his end is debatable, but we definatley shared views of our own personal mortality.

  4. Yeah you didnt seem to much on the edge there, but a little tense is all

I'd give you some advice but you are the wise one and it would make my head explode:D

I always want to get around to reading Hunter instead of just about him, but I never have any damn time...

  5. I honestly think that there's value in every moment of human life, even during old age when you're all wrinkled and stinky. You shouldn't cling to life, but I think you should let it go its full course till the end.

  6. Just out of curiosity, what's your opinon on euthenasia?

  7. Euthinasia, I agree with it. I dont think anyone should be subjected to a lifetime of pain and a bad quality of life. If someone I know were to be hurt ( god forbid) and asked me for a way out, I think I would accomidate, I guess thats just who I am.

  8. if we all knew what went on in the afterlife (and all agreed on it) im sure this would happen

  9. my plan is similar to hunter's (assuming that he took his own life). once i can't do it on my own i'm going to put a bullet in my head.

i live w/ my 86 yo grandfather and i don't want to ever be like that.

  10. "I'm gonna share with you a vision that I had, cause I love you. And you feel it. You know all that money we spend on nuclear weapons and defense each year, trillions of dollars, correct? Instead -- just play with this -- if we spent that money feeding and clothing the poor of the world -- and it would pay for it many times over, not one human being excluded -- we can explore space together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace."- Bill Hicks.

  11. It's ironic, because death can bring the greatest change life can offer.
Whatever happens, happens, because whatever you do always has a meaning behind and it always works out, may it be trivial or grandeur. This always gets me thinking about fate and whether we really have a choice or not.
