if mj was legal...

Discussion in 'Experienced Cannabis Enthusiasts' started by tonyk313, Oct 6, 2006.

  1. i was just thinking that IF marijuana was legal... cigarette companies would be out of business lol

they could market weed as "a healthy cigarette alternative, that is 10000x better"

    lol... just a thought:D

  2. Cig companies are one of the reasons mj isn't legal...sad really

  3. not neccisarily(sp?)

85% of my stoner friends light up a newport 20 seconds after a session.

  4. Imagine buying a pack of joints. MM-mmm. If only..... :(

  5. *inhales* man right now I'm thinking that we will not need to wish in a coupe of years from now*exhales*...why cause its slowly creeping back...take my example...all the west coast states made the gov't way of "legal" and its hitting the east coast & midwest...with their election this year in Nevada also Denver, Colorado got something going on up there and all the rumors of alot of new england states might be doing it for next year...just think about it....
    *inhales* ...its only my opinion......

  6. I like tobacco and would definitely keep smoking it if marijuana were fully legalized and widely available from retail outlets. I think many other people feel this way. Many others like tobacco but have given marijuana an honest go and don't like it. I live in a place where personal use is almost defacto legalized (I have witnessed people, under ordinary circumstances, smoking within a few feet of uniformed police offices without the cops caring), have almost equal access to marijuana as I do to tobacco, and still smoke tobacco (and it's not due to addiciton, I often go days or weeks without tobacco).

  7. well... you also live in canada

  8. actually..

Philip Morris (company that owns Marlboro Cigarettes) has TradeMarked the name "Alcopoco gold" (sorry i cant spell it!) so if and when marijuana is legalized and has gotten the greenlight to start producing marijuana cigarettes, Philip Morris will have "Alcopoco Gold" brand marijuana cigarettes on shelves by the next day. so they will continue to make money, thats what ive been told at least, and it makes sense, tobacco companies just about own this country. kinda?

  9. It would suck if weed was legalized, cause then it will be just one more thing the government can tax the shit out of. But then again, it might become cheaper because it could be mass produced. I dunno, i just dont like paying money to those greedy duchebags in the head office when i can blaze whenever i want without governement getting a piece of my hard earned cash.

  10. From what I hear, Marlboro's got dibs on a box they designed for when its legal.:hello:

  11. Well the douchebags would still get ur money because ur supplier spends ur money on other stuff besides more mj.

  12. Well if it was legalized then why wouldn't you just grow a bunch of plants yourself. I think that so many people would be growing it that it would be hard to tax it because none would buy in stores. they would just keep doing it as they do now just legally.

  13. for the same reason that most people dont grow all their own fruits vegetables and herbs. Growing things can be hard (especially if you want really quality products), and most people dont have the time/space to do that.

if it were totally legal to grow im sure many MORE people would grow, but im sure the average guy in NYC with a little apartment would just go buy some weed at the store, rather than try to grow it in a little closet.

however, considering the INSANE quality seeds you can buy online these days, if it was legalized, then the weed people grew would be good. Then again, if it were totally legalized, the legal weed that is produced by huge scientifically honed producers would probably be AMAZING as well.
either way, no matter what, lets just hope its legalized.

  14. Yeah like others said, the Tobacco company has already thought this well through, they're not gonna let some little weed cut out tobacco sales. It's easiest to jsut go with the flow.

    Marlboro Kush, imagine that.

  15. i cant wait...

  16. Anybody have any info about the status of adding salvia to the controlled substance list in the US?

  17. Salvia divinorum? You can buy that legally at head shops if you're over 18. Am I thinking of something else?

  18. No, you are correct. It is legal for the time being. But there is talk in at least a couple states about adding it to the controlled substance list (making it illegal). Salvia is a hallucinagen (hope I spelled that right) and therefore it is a miracle that it is still legal. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew what the status of the intiatives to illegalize it were.

  19. Meh, I doubt it. Cig companies might lose SOME business, but it would still be a huge industry. A MJ high and a Nicotine buzz are two entirely different feelings, so it's kind of hard to link them in the market.

  20. well when it is legalized i would say that it will be that marijuana laws are the same as alcohol laws (as it is on some college campuses) because you are impaired while on it...

which means you prob cant grow or sell it, you cant drive and blaze and you'll prob have to be 21

and the price im sure will go down since it will be mass produced maybe like $5g:D :smoking:
