make it WORSE next time? Like instead of allowing an ounce, only allow a gram. Instead of allowing 5 plants, not allow any homegrows at all. Instead of making the minimum age 21, raise it to 25. Instead of allowing storefronts where people could buy it, ban any sales so no one could legally get it. And add a DUI penalty where people who arent impaired get a dui. its stuff like this Im concerned about. To try appease the opponents so its more passable at the ballot box. If marijuana legalization bill doesnt pass in 2012 in the 3 states that have it on the ballot, in 2014 or 2016 or any next chance they get, will they try to fuck it up so much that it becomes useless next time?

No, that's not possible. The states that are voting this year (and Cali in '10) are doing so because they can have citizen-initiated referendums. Since they're citizen-initiated they can put anything they want in them, they just have to get enough people signing to get them on the ballot. So if all three fail this year then next time will contain whatever the people who start them decide to put in them.
