Question and poll is pretty self explanatory. Would you kill your kid, or for that matter, anyone else too, if your god spoke to you and commanded it?
Why would God even ask me to do the deed of killing my own son (or whatever), when he can just do it quick and painlessly with the snap of his cosmic fingers? In short, no.
I wouldnt ever be convinced of god even if there was an aura of light telepathically communicating with me or performing miracles or whatever. Theres always some other possibility. However, lets say i did believe....i would say no and wonder why i was able to disobey a direct commandment from god. Seems like his commandments wouldnt be left to free will
Obviously the question was referring to the request by Yahweh to Abraham to kill his son to prove his loyalty and devotion. Of course in the story, God stops Abraham at the last minute because it's all a test of faith. There have been others who have killed their children and claimed God told them to. Of course, we easily cast these people off as insane while about 2/3 of the world's population revere Abraham for being willing to slay Isaac.
Lol it's funny how you go straight to calling it a split personality problem... Tsk tsk, assumptions, assumptions *smh* Could mean an infinite number of things. I'll give you one reason. The way I see it, the only way God could "tell" anyone to do anything, is if there is literally no other option left. Like say, perhaps your brother has cancer and he wants you to kill him because *insert reason here* and he says if you don't he'll detonate a bomb killing you and the rest of your family because *insert reason here*. Or maybe you're both hanging off a cliff, and only you could be saved, but you want to save your brother. Your brother knows either you both will die or you will survive, so he tells you to let go and save yourself. ^^^^That's one way to look at it.
... you literally think like a child. So, stop assuming you're asking a question in this thread.. you're making a statement. But you already know what you know about God, and believe what you believe. Why keep on inquiring? Infatuated much? Kierkegaard's wisdom can only be heard by those who have ears... and not those ears filled with polluted wax. "God is not like a human being; it is not important for God to have visible evidence so that he can see if his cause has been victorious or not; he sees in secret just as well. Moreover, it is so far from being the case that you should help God to learn anew that it is rather he who will help you to learn anew, so that you are weaned from the worldly point of view that insists on visible evidence. (...) A decision in the external sphere is what Abraham's religion does not want; (...) rather it wants to test the individual's faith." please make your point without insulting other members, thanks Yoda
I don't have a kid... I might do someone else's kid though. If I get really, really cool super powers afterwards,
Did God not give man free will? So, NO, not on the command of anyone would I kill. If my action is necessary to save the life of another? Then I will act. The end result is not dictated by my free will though. It would be dictated by the continued actions of the aggressor. My religion is Bushido. Right action guides my hand...not fear of eternal damnation. Sometimes violence is the answer. And when it is the answer....it is the ONLY answer!
The only response in that situation is to pull down your pants and moon him from cheek to shining cheek
I'd tell god to suck my dick, fuck off, and kill himself. After that I'd give my psychiatrist a call...
