I'll start it off: -a large park -library(although that's often not quiet with so many people and their kids and phones and computers and shit, coughing, sneezing, etc...) Basically it needs to be away from people because when I'm trying to learn information they're loud and obnoxious, and I still feel the aftereffects of childhood ADD So can you guys think of any actual quiet places to study? Only rules, it can't cost any money, like a hotel room or something guys. This is a place I'm going to use on a fairly regular basis. It's not practical to be spending money on a room or soemthing every day.
When I was in college, one of the libraries on campus had 2 different kinds of rooms you could get. Ones with windows, and ones without. You just give em your student ID and they give you the key, and you have to renew it every three hours. So I'd get the ones w/ out the windows, and renew it every three hours, sometimes staying 9-12 hours a day total. The room is about twice the size of a phone booth w/ an outlet, a chair, a flat desk coming out of the wall, and a doorknob. I'd leave my laptop in the car and take in nothing but books, paper, notes, pens etc, (nothing digital or electronic). No windows is the key though. I originally got the rooms w/ windows, and I'd find myself looking out down at the street at people crossing the road, or eating lunch on the patio of a restaurant, or just staring at traffic really. Getting rid of that window made a huge difference. Also, earplugs can be good. Go lock yourself in a small room w/ no windows, put in some earplugs and start reading. Best of luck.
the bathroom is a great. no one bothers you and you can't hear people if you turn the fan on. i sometimes go in there just to study.
Line your closet with all manner of blankets and pillows (tape them up or whatever). It's weird how you can hear your own heart and body functions. Edit: Plus bad ass hot box opportunity if you are the stoned kinda studier.
i just put my noise cancelling earphones on and dont turn my ipod on...instant silence wherever you are
When I was in college I played in the orchestra freshman and sophomore year, I was pretty chill with the conductor. So for the rest of my years there, he'd always let me use the soundproof practice rooms if I needed them. Whether it was for practicing, studying, reading, writing, etc. I feel like somewhere TOO chill wouldn't be the best, because you wouldn't feel like studying. Usually a dorm/apt/house works, if no one else is around.
The woods. Or the lake. Idk, I like studying outside sometimes. Unless it's windy. Or just turn your house into a fortress of solitude.
Octomoms house bro.. Haha but idk man try walking deep in the forest. Or if u have a boat or a sma boat go out to the middle of the lake. That might now be to quiet depending on the lake but it should be relaxing
