ideas about my up coming grow set up

  1. ok everyone so im wanting to get a small grow tent, I dont smoke much and neither does my girlfriend ( we both have MMJ license), about an 8th a week. so i was thinking i could get a
    -2x4 Hydro tent.
    -a 250watt hps lamp.
-small t5 for veg and seedlings(maybe a couple small fluro's for extra light)
    -digital timer
-use soil and use foxfarm ferts.
    - of course all the odds and ends, chains, meters, clippers, ect...
so what do you think? is that enough to support 2-3 plants? i figure that every 3 or so months i can get 3-6 ounces which would be a good amount to have, then if i need any extra i could always up-grade the system or just run to the dispensary.
Im wanting to go with the hydro hut because im not a very handy person, my girlfriend doesnt want me to burn the house down or something sticking a light in a wooden box. also it would be nice to be able to break the tent down as i move around every year or so. i know id have to get a blower to move air out of the box, but what about a scrubber? would 2 plants even smell that much??
also with winter rolling around, and being in new mexico would i even have to heat my grow tent? or would the light keep it warm enough.
any info or advice would be awesome

  2. also what would be a good amount of watts for fluro's? i realize i can just get a Mh bulb for veg but what about seedlings? I would like to grow a small SOG up-untill veg so i can sex the strongest ones, so just enough to maintane at least 8 seedlings.

I'm going to use five 40w 6500K CFLs for 2 plants for 2-3 weeks. Then, use my 400w MH conversion bulb for the rest of veg.

I would just get a conversion bulb and place the bulb 2 1/2 feet- 3 feet. Also, a 400w hps instead of 250w.

  4. I would just get a 400 watt MH/HPS setup with a dimmable ballast rather than getting a 250 with cfls. You can start it out at 50% when you first start vegging and increase your light output as your plants get bigger and take up more space. I have one made by Ipower which I got off ebay and it works really good.

  5. so i could get a Mh bulb for the 400w, is Mh harsh for seedlings? or is that going to be a none issue.

  6. No its not harsh. Just don't have the thing on max and make sure you get one that has a cool tube with it for its reflector. Have it on 50% and you can even have it a couple of feet above the seedlings for the first few days just to make sure its not too much for them. I use MH right from the start and never had any issues.

  7. well i put all the material costs together last night and for everything im wanting to get its a bout $1,110. now this isnt shopping around or anything this is based off of a local hydro shops prices. also not including seeds, but everything else from ferts to soil to lights to clippers. so i think its a pretty sweet set up for the price and ease of getting.

  8. also this isnt including a t5, eventhough i know it would be cheeper to get the dimmer. i would rather be able to set up a small perpetual grow.

  9. Go organic. It's much cheaper

  10. yeah, i for sure want to go organic at some point. is it easyer? i kinda wanna do my first grow as simple as possible with best results. now i know using chemical ferts and what not is not so good health wise, but it does seem simpler

  12. If i fit 16, that would be a 4 x 4' footprint, but i've noticed alot of people use a 5 x 5 footprint and i could fit 25 plants using a 5 x 5 footprint.
