Ideal setup for hydro??

    I plan on growing 4 small plants using the "sea of green method" in a hydro setup. I have 2 flouros (blue spectrums and red spectrum) for veg and flowering and I was curious if 6400 lumens would be enough or would 8000 lumens be better? I want the plants to have enough light but don't want to waste too much light since its only for 4 plants.

    Also... in the SOG method how do I schedule the lighting period so I get those shorter plants? Start the 12/12 flowering schedule at a couple weeks? I truly appreciate any help, thanks.

    Hi. Blue spectrum, 6400 lumens is generaly accepted as the level for vegging plants. Then red spectrum and 12/12 lighting for flowering. Enjoy your hydro gardening, its great fun.

    If your gonna do SOG you may as well invest in a HPS and do more than 4 plants! You can do a lot of plants in a small area because of how they are grown. Which leads me to your next question. For a SOG grow, you start with all rooted clones and go straight to 12/12. Its a great way to get a good harvest and to maximize space available. Good luck.

    I'm fine with 4 plants because this isn't going to be a huge project, just for my personal benefit, and I would start with clones but I need clones to begin with, lol. So I'm starting from seedlings for now.

    At what time period do I force flowering to mature the plants early for SOG?

    well heres the thing. You'll be starting from seed. Bag seed maybe? So it wil be hard to determin at which point to start flowering to get a true SOG grow. Figure 50% of the seeds you start will be male seeds. You may just wanna skip the SOG idea for right now and just go with a small grow in soil, take clones from one of your females and then start your SOG. But if thats not your cup of tea then at any point you can start flowering. So maybe wait till the plants have shown sex and then go....:confused:

    Sorry if none of this makes any sense but Morphine and Vodka will do that to ya...:D

    Start flowering on 12/12 when they are about 6 inches tall. That will keep them nice and short and should keep them at 1 single cola.
