hey guys building a room and foreseeing some heat issues. i came up with this idea. was wondering if someone has tried it, or what you guys think of it. i'm not an artist, as you can see, but the idea goes like this; i have my vent fan blowing into a trash can, or rubber maid filled with water. submerged in the water are copper pipes. the pipes are not filled with water, the ends are just above water level. they make a loop down in the water and back up through holes cut in the sides. then they go back into the room to recirculate the, hopefully cooler, air. it's kind of a pseudo-geothermal heat pump. the rubber maid would be sitting on my cold concrete floor so i thought that would keep the water constantly cooler than the air passing by it. also, since it's a closed system, i'd be able to run CO2 without wasting it. so what do you guys think?
It could work, but you would need a rather thick piece of copper, which can get expensive nowadays. also if you wanted to make it colder, you could add ice to the water container... you can also take the inverse of your idea and run a copper tube coil full of cool water in front of a fan. have the water circulating in a reservoir, add ice if needed. This would make the air coming off the fan a lot colder. Also, if you do it this way, you will be able to use smaller cheaper copper tubing.
