I want to be religious

  1. After watching a show on the history channel about Hell, while very stoned, I've been thinking about taking up a religion. I have had very spiritual experiences while on shrooms such as discovering my soul. Im thinking about shrooming and concentrating on religion. I may also look up some of those stories where the person dies for a few minutes and then comes back to life.

Anyone else do anything or feel anything similar

  2. i know what you mean man, but i cant force myself to take up a religion other than like budhism. they are all flawed to the nth degree.

for these people that die for a moment...when you die your brain releases a large amount of dmt, triggering hallucinations

  3. If you have any questions, you should ash your a local Preacher or Minister. They have very good and insightful answers.

  4. i just watched that special as well, and its only made me laugh at religions harder

  5. If you're interested, it can't hurt to learn about different religions. Even if you don't end up following any of them, knowledge is never a bad thing.

  6. Make your own religion, that's the funnest way.

  7. Yeah ive heard about that with the dmt, but how can the dead hallucinate?

  8. I think I may talk to my local priest, how would I contact him?

  9. Depending on how you die your mind stays alive longer than you're body, the drug release also slows down time so the trip is longer than it seems.

  10. If you're going to become religious, don't do it out of fear of Hell. Do it out of a want to better understand yourself spiritually.

  11. the soul is a myth, imo, at least in the traditional sense.

  12. That's the problem with religion. In order to obtain the benefits the religion offers, you have to sacrifice all your personal beliefs and replace them with another's.

  13. I don't even think it's so much the BELIEFS, in a spiritual sense, that seperate me from religion. I grew up christian, traveled the world with christian groups, and have seen things that can be explained in no other way, but it's the way that these churches translate their beliefs into life. It's the rules. The thing that gets to me the most is that the majority of Christians (I have to speak on christianity, since that's the only religion that i've had in-depth experience with) don't have a clue why they do or don't do much of anything. You ask them why they don't drink, they say because the bible says not to. In that same chapter, it says not to cut your sideburns (to visually set yourself apart. i get that), and a little while later it says not to eat any animal with a cleft hoof (health issues). I'm kinda rambling now, so i'm gonna stop, because the outline i had in my head is long gone.

  14. I felt the same way till over the summer when I tripped for the first time. It felt like I connected with my soul and it was amazing.

  15. I don't think you should pick and choose a religion (I'm sure I don't need to tell you about the dangers of dogma), but it can't hurt to learn about different spiritual traditions. You'll eventually see how they all point to the same thing. It's not by observing rules and singing hymns that you'll open your soul, it's through your own personal experience.
