I think I'm outgrowing weed...possibly quitting

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by GreenVoyage, Oct 17, 2012.

  1. I've come to realize over the last year or so that marijuana, while being awesome, is something that I should maybe leave behind for multiple reasons. First, and probably most importantly, despite its relative safety in comparison with other drugs, weed is still illegal. Getting caught would really fuck up my future even if it was just a small amount. Not to mention, most jobs drug test these days, unless they're shitty minimum wage fast food and retail jobs, and I'm really sick of doing that shit and hope to never come back once I leave that world.

Also, the older I get, the more I just feel like it isn't worth the hassle. Calling around for bud, sneaking it around in my car, paying 30 to 50 bucks for an eighth that'll last me maybe a week or two o (i usually only smoke at the end of the day), etc. It just feels, i dunno, very juvenile I guess. Lately whenever I get high, I just start thinking about all the things I should be doing rather than getting high lol. Like I said, I have nothing against the drug itself, it just seems more and more like it's not going to fit in with the life that I want someday. Anyone else ever feel like this?

  2. I've felt that way before. I ended up wanting to smoke again, after losing touch with my connects and throwing away my pieces.

Don't feel you can't stop just because there's nothing inherently wrong with weed. Do what you want; if that excludes weed, so be it. :confused_2: Try not to lose contact with your people, though. The future isn't set in stone.

  3. Honestly, no, I dont feel like that. I can understand your situation, sounds like you are a little younger . . . idk though, smoking brings beauty into my life. Just rode to the store to get a cigarillo, twisted up with some dank, Im quite happy.

  4. if you want to quit, that's your prerogative. one can say getting drunk with a bunch of random people at a bar is juvenile as well. theres nothing wrong with thinking that way, and i would say that nearly every reason to quit smoking/using weed is justifiable.

if you do quit permanently, please dont ever lose touch with how harmless it is & the fact that cannabis should be legalized.

  5. Everything gets stale after a while. Games, music, food. Give it time and enjoy the soberness. Weed always welcomes you back.

  6. Yeah Common Sense, Street Smart & Moderation is your answer OP. P.S. you do know that Marijuana is not just a drug for the youth just because a lot of people of that age toke right?

  7. no need to quit completely just have some papers and roll up a fat joint on special occasions or holidays or something like that

  8. I just slowed down is what I did

  9. The term "outgrowing" is kind of offending.

You just mean you have other priorities right now, and that's fine, no one is forcing you to smoke, and you can always come back later.

  10. Seems like most of your problems with weed are related to prohibition.

  11. I know the feeling, sounds like you need a break from weed.

However long it takes until you want to smoke again, its that simple

I noticed someone mentioned just slowing down on it also. That can really help too

  12. THE IRONY

  13. You can never be too old for weed. You can, however, have life occurences that come first over it.

  14. That is your choice and you do have good points. But we know you'll be back.

  15. If you're worrying about getting busted you aren't being careful enough.Think outside the box to stay one step ahead, have your dude put it in an envelope and stick it in your mail box with someone elses name on it just in case.As for the drug test they have synthetic urine, I personally just use my girlfriend piss but to each his own.And the comment where you said you will get drug tested unless it's a shitty minimum wage job, I'm guessing that's what kind of job you have now if you're worrying about $50 a week lol I'm spending like $250-300 a week and it's worth every penny. That being said I'll say the final thing that I have to say, I got the job I have and I've done it well because of marijuana. It literally inspired me to get up and do shit and get serious about life. It's anything but juvenile! I felt like that too, that I should be doing something instead of sitting around getting faded. So I did I got faded THEN I went and did shit that needed to be done.If you're lazy don't put that on weed dude I'm tired of people labeling stoners as lazy because they smoke weed. That's your choice to not get out and do what needs to be done when you're high.Marijuana helped me to think about what's important, think of how I can put those things first, set the goals, and then accomplish them.I'm getting $30 an hour because of weed and the fact that it helped me make priorities in my life. Not to mention the way she makes me feel :smoke: Mary has been with me since age 13,through my entire teenage years, and into adulthood. She has helped me so much, I could never turn my back on my weed man.

  16. Man, you'd be surprised how many places don't drug test. My last job was a government job on a military base, and currently for a very large energy company - neither of them have a drug test policy. In fact, in this energy company, only people that are have "at risk" jobs are subject to random drug tests. These are basically people that work on oil wells or drive trucks, which leaves hundreds of job types in this company that are not drug tested whatsoever.

I dunno man, I'm in my late 20's and I feel perfectly fine with it. In fact, it got better as I got older. When I was younger, I would worry or stress more often about it. But these days, it's just another part of my life. I even told some coworkers about it, and some of them have revealed themselves to be smokers too! Nothing is quite as comforting as learning that people you respect greatly as professionals like to blaze up.

As far as paying the 30-50 bucks to feel good feeling juvenile... I don't think there's anything juvenile about it at all. If somebody wants to feel good, and they're comfortable with their finances enough to make weed a part of their "budget", then that's their choice and nothing wrong with that. People of all ages and careers get high. Plus, think of it as a hobby like any other: Some people spend hundreds on geocaching, or card collections, strip clubs or weekly car washes, because that's what they enjoy. Something we enjoy is weed, so that's what we spend our money on. There's totally nothing wrong with it!

If these feelings are strong, perhaps you're just seeking some overall change in your life. There's nothing wrong with taking a break or quitting. Why don't you take 6 months off and see how you feel afterward?

  17. Sounds like you worry a lot. Hang loose brah brah. I myself am in college and have a future, but bud is also in my future and there's nothing morally wrong with it. But do what you feel is you. No ones forcing you to chief.

  18. Some states have laws against work place dt, like maryland. Lol.

  19. I can understand your situation. It takes a big person to know their limits and know when a good thing has to come to an end.

Best of luck to you, whatever you choose. It will always be waiting if you change your mind.

  20. You know you dont want to quit. Its just because you dont have enough money....

You will start again probably. Once a stoner always a stoner....

Ask my entire family lol. Most of them smoked weed until death. Grandpa blazed his whole damn life. He died because he was fucked up and fell down some stairs. Ended up getting infected after surgery and he died because of it..
