i mixed my soil let it cook for a month. transplanted clones into the soil. i was overly excited. i didn't think to transplant 1.5" rock wool cubes into potting mix. i transplanted 8" clones straight into the finishing soil. i have slow veg growth. i dont over water. i wait till they need some water. i lift the container to see gauge how much water is in the pot. this is 3 weeks of veg. next run i'll wait and put clones into a potting mix till they are about 12" then pot up to my finishing container with the rich soil. here is a peek at the lil girls. i have been giving em ACT every 5days to try to speed things up a lil. foliar and soil drench. vermicompost & blu's blend with some molasses for 24-48 hrs in a homemade vortex brewer. thx for the all the info on the forum. i'm truly loving organics but need to dial it in and get a feel for it.
You'll get there! Your soil may just need another week or two - no worries man. I transplant directly into my soil all the time. As long as your soil had a good humus component and has had a chance to nutrient cycle properly & long enuff you'll be just fine - more than fine - you'll thrive. I don't have a "seedling mix" or "clone mix". I have homemade soil and I use it.for everything. Can you give us a rough idea as to your soil mix? Btw - you didn't screw anything up. patience, Grasshopper. J
I think your plants are looking good! When I switched to Organics it took me awhile to stop obsessing about every little detail like I did growing with the "bottles of nutes"! More than once Jerry has told me LITFA!!
ACT's are meant to introduce microbial populations. They are not meant to be soil food. Why add one every 5 days? Why do you think not including a rockwool cube was a mistake? I put cuts directly into soil with no problem. I sometimes use rapid rooter cubes to get roots, then I carefully remove/tear the cube away from the clone and it's little root nubs so I put it in the soil without the cube. I only use one soil. For seeds, cuts, veg, all the way to flower. Nothing but water only till harvest. Jerry's right on that issue. Good soil is good for all stages of life.
This is a common 'underestimation/misconception' ACT is also used [often primarily] to cycle nutrients. (see ACT thread)
litfa ok i'm gonna try an not worry to much. thx since i tossed my ph and ppm pen i dont know what to do with myself lol izzy i use tea as a preventive measure for pests and basically jumpstarting the microbe life. also i dont know what to do with myself. i find myself with alot more time on my hands after switching to organics. my mix soil base: 25% pro mix (peat moss/perlite) 25% coco fiber 25% rice hulls 25% vermicompost (contains 20% ewc) with this base mix i have about 30% aeration i also add bio char to the mix. 10% of my base. minerals: azomite, glacial rock dust, green sand, oyster shell, calphos powder, gypsum, equal parts into a container and i use 3 cups per cubic feet of base soil. meals and ferts: guano .5-13-1 guano 9-3-1 bone meal 3-15-0 crab meal 3-4-0 feather 12-0-0 fish meal 10-4-0 kelp meal alfalfa meal neem meal tomato tone to keep things simple i'm mixing equal parts into a container, then i use 2 cups per cubic feet of base soil. i know trans from rockwool to soil is ok. i just didn't know when to put them in the rich soil. but like jerry stated. maybe a month wasn't enough to cook. they are starting to look better every day. it was just really slow growth for what i'm used too.
I'm no pro when it comes to soil mixing but that sounds pretty damn solid to me. Is the tomato tone a bit redundant with everything else in there? I think you're gonna be blown away with the growth you will soon see. What size containers are they ending up in?
the tomato tone was because I had it lying around. when I went shopping. I went shopping!!! I have 2gal air pots and 3.5 gal air pots. I'm hoping the 2 gal will have enough to sustain life till end of bloom without any deff. but I'm using both to see which one I like better
Are they currently in the 2 and 3.5 air pots? Good call on seeing which you like more, experiments are always nice to solidify knowledge. From my personal experience, I much prefer bigger pots. I went from 6 3-gal cloth pots to 2 10-gal cloth pots. For my situation (screen, and a general lack of space), it has been a way more pleasurable experience to water and maintain. Not to mention, there is definitely some (sex) appeal in bigger flowers.
Hehe...he'll see for himself when they explode Manataur. Top dress with some of that vermicompost - am inch of it. Patience, good sized containers and lots of light - you're gonna rock pal. J
