And I’m never going back.. now granted, this was an older generation of LED lights, I was running 650 watts - some Cree cobs n Plamtinum p300s. this was back in 2015 Bottled Foxfarm nutrients along with happy frog soil .. Today— in Coast of Maine Stonington blend - plus the organic amendments they sell— earthworm, castings molasses, compost tea for the last few weeks. Day 38 bloom- look at that frost I’m sure some of it has to do with genetics and the new LED technology, never going to bottled nutrients Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
much over rated is bottled nutes many say its a crime even 'con' ,their is an organics subforum some place
“Dead”trients as I hear a guy, who is a big proponent of organic growing, call them on YouTube Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've grown most my grows all organic, you relize keeping the bacteria....bugs in the soil happy the plant has an easy run recently I switched my germing water for aloe Vera; To just water with a used tea bag,, as the seedling needs the simple chems in the tea bag, their is a difference for me, in germing time saved, is an example lol
tiger bloom has ruined more of my weed than i care to say. I had 1 plant Rainmaker by ethos that was a huge yielder and could handle double doses of Tigerbloom but when i tried it on my next grow of a different strain it all but killed them I am switching to organics too and may dabble in coco I got a huge bag of coco yesterday for 5 bucks LOL Bucket i see your old grow had a scrog too! i built one exactly like that one and tore it down halfway through never scrogged again .I train my plants to stand up
Tell us more about your soil mix and if you added amendments into the soil or top dressed? How often and how much did you add? Size of containers?
OK lets say I want to start an organic water only grow......any soil recipes out there that wont have me buying so many amendments that I have a $200 5 gal bucket of soil or constantly adding teas and top dressing this or that? I tried an organic grow, water only years ago, I found myself resorting to bottle nutes to get through the grow. It was a waste of time and money for me. Maybe this is the wrong subforum. sorry. Right now I am use FFOF/ GrowDots and Recharge. So far this grow has been effortless. I say that tongue in cheek bc all heck usually breaks loose 3 weeks into flower. I just flipped a few days ago.
I’m using coast of Maine Stonington blend. Along with a 50-50 mix of the raised bed mix that they have. They also have something called Stonington organic Plant food. 5-2-4 and a fish bone meal product for flower.. buds and blooms..been using some Myco bliss. Earthworm castings, and I’ve been brewing my own compost. 5 gal. Used the 5-2-4 end of veg. Along with earthworm, castings. And then I fed 1/4 cup of fishbone meal. in weeks one, three, and five of bloom. I’m on day 45 today I have been feeding with the compost tea every other watering as the schedule really doesn’t call 4 any more top dressing after week 5. Unless it’s. EWCs. Sent from my iPhone using sorry Hey bro, storz this is pretty much all you would need for an organic growth, other than the reverse osmosis water that I use it’s like seven dollars for a 5 gallon jug. I get them refilled at Walmart or Home Depot the bags of soil are about 30 each those amendments are probably about 35 a bag /- that even with 45 gallon plants I still have a lot of the raised bed mix left. And a TON! Of try amendment. It’s really up to you if you wanna brew your own tea, just use air stone, so no bad pathogens can grow in the anaerobic environment. To be honest that’s pretty cheap to brew your own. I bought a really nice one from a company in Cali that was pretty cheap… My plants have been loving it. On my way over to the tent right now
Literally never had an easier grow in my life I was even in Las Vegas for five days when they were flipped over to Bloom. I fed them as soon as they came back, which was a couple days too late, but all is well. / if you wanted just water and didn’t wanna have to worry about top dressing at all during the grow… there’s definitely some good recipes for water only super soil.. light yellow and dying leaves on a few of these branches just normal for this late in bloom year? Day 46 Still getting some compost tea about every other water .. very diluted .. 0.5-6-6 is the NPK. Whoever said testing, runoff in organic soil is a waste is absolutely right… I got two wildly different readings on different days Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'll stick to the simplicity of 50/50 peat perlite and General Hydroponics three part liquid mix. I follow the guide on the bottles almost exactly. They flush out super easy at the end too, and it's not hard to get the 50/50 peat perlite blend back to neutral and essentially a soil-less medium for harvesting. Just takes a little effort to get the measurements right, and you have to mix them in the right order to keep the PH right. Otherwise it's extremely simple. I get the love for organics but since this isn't even in the organics section I don't mind throwing in my two cents. My leaves around my Colas never yellow that much that early. Maybe day 70 they look like that. The fan leaves below the canopy and at the branch nodes should be dropping off by day 46, but in my opinion those plants you have there are hungry and leaching nutrients from their leaves.
i wouldnt worry too much about the yellow maybe step up the feed and by day 70 i would think you will be done anyways not sure what olesmoky means by day 70 thats 10 weeks of flower ?
I have been going to tell you the 2015 grow looked really good imo but I was wondering what type of yield you got? Anyway everything looks really good
Dude seriously, I didn’t understand one word in that jumbled post lol What is he growing like land race sativas? lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not that great. It was all bag seed and I have a feeling the genetics just weren’t there. It was very hairy though. lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I remember correctly, we yielded about 18 ounces dry. In a 3 x 4. Scrogged out. Did a very shitty job drying and curing so it tasted like hay. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Growing in cocoa with synthetic nutrients is a lot different bro.. your nutrients are available almost immediately to the plant. The dry amendments have to break down and slowly release fertilizer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A little late for a reply but your post isn't outdated too... A grower could start with 1/3 of each, 2 bale of Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, pretty cheap, about 25$. Then we all need perlite so same price. Compost would be the most expensive part but get 4 cu ft of Black Kow about 25$ and 4 cu ft of Worm Castings about 120$. Rock dust for minerals, pretty cheap too, 20$ for 2k. So for roughly 240$ you'll have soil mix for 50 gals. Even cheaper/better if you can use your own compost/worm castings in the mix! Then get a good dry amendment mix; like Gaia Green Power Bloom, containing about all what is recommended in 1 bag. A 10k bag is about 40$ and will last for 2 years if you grow couple plants at a time. Soil can be re amended each time and saved for next run. So for about 300$ you'll have nothing else to buy for 2 years. Not easy to find the best time to top dress, and it's not a crime to give a shot or two of bottled nutes if you top dressed a little late and your plants are hungry! I was able to get rid of a couple of old bottle sitting under the sink that would have gone in the bin otherwise. Going organic was the best move I've made after starting to grow. Give it an other try when you are ready!
