I need to quit!

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Chronic Blood, Feb 8, 2011.

  1. Well after a weed/alcohol/party filled summer... the time has come when my ice hockey season starts again... First training is in 2 days time, and I've been trying to cut down on smoking for at least a month. Basically after my season finished last year I started the partying, smoked a whole lotta weed... and I'm a hell of a lot less fit than I was. And to make things worse I haven't been on the ice since my last game, which was several months. So ima cop it bad from my coach.

I won't deny I'm addicted to Ganja, I get a better nights sleep with it... and I always crave a smoke. I want to continue smoking through my season, but at a maximum of once a week.

I just really want as much advice as I can get from everyone on here thats been through quitting, or really cutting down. My main issues are...

-Sleep. I can almost say that we all get to sleep easier on the stuff... and you might know what its like when you have no smoke, and spend the whole night trying to get some sleep, but just can't nod off and end up going to work after a sleepless night. I know about melatonin but I've just run out at the moment. Once I get into a sleeping without weed habit I'll be good.

-Temptation. Let's say a mate rings me up on friday night saying he's just got some killer pot and asks me to come smoke it up? How the fuck do I resist that kind of temptation... I love weed!

-Fitness. Does anyone have any experience with doing weed at the same time as being involved in sport? I want to do well this season, and somehow I don't think the pot helps... Could just be the lazy/hungry stoner lifestyle associated with it, but does anyone actually know whether it effects fitness?

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to get all off the stuff, I love it. But along with ice hockey I have some shit in my life that needs sorting out. I merely want to learn enough self control to be able to smoke as I please without getting heavily addicted.

If you have experienced any other issues quitting, or have any advice of any kind please share it :) Its much appreciated.

    Cheers.

  2. If drug testing isn't an issue you should look into a vaporizer. I didn't want to stop but I needed to be in shale and it was perfect. I actually ended up winning my state regional very much high.lol and I'm a diver so shit got a little scary at times.

Well, first of, you are aren't addicted to marijuana, you think you are. I went through this about 3 monthes after smoking heavily (high 24/7), but after a while I was like its just weed, I don't need this to live my life, I still smoke weed everyday, but I run out of weed usually for 2 weeks a month (im in college, so I have to budget myself) and its not that bad, I just read books :) I've been smoking heavily for around 2 and a half years.

You just need a break (2 week minimum), your sleep and eating patterns will return to normal in 2-3 days, it'll be boring at first but believe me man you'll be fine. And I always say yes to people who want to smoke you up man, just remember to get them back later. Buy in smaller amounts (half oz's instead a full oz), and divide it up into daily doses.

  4. arnold schwartz, michael phelps, prob a buncha the ethiopian dudes...

they all smoked during training dude. yous fine. and stoppings easy...you just..stop. It sucks the first day cause you think (man this would be way better if i was baked man..) but you dont! and you'll be fine.

just workout extra that day. be outside doing something tiring and in the sun. make sure to eat plenty that day. sleep will be simple.

  5. Nah... I needa get the THC out of my system for a while... not for testing but just for my mental health :) But that sounds pretty sweet man.

  6. Thanks for the positive support and tips man :)

  7. Yeah I've learnt to try make myself more tired by working harder... and I've got alotta work to do, I'm fat and unfit like a motherfucker... but I do need to quit for at least my first month or 2 of training... the dope will just demotivate me from Hockey, and motivate me to blaze more lol. Cheers buddy.

  8. I don't know how familiar you are with strains, but if you can get a nice sativa dominant strain, you won't get that lazy couch lock high, you'll want to go out and do stuff you won't have a problem going for a 5-10 km bike ride.

    Good luck man.

  9. Here in sydney australia... We usually get average shit without a name. You usually just get what your dealers have, mostly thick lazy indica. I recently became friends with a guy that can get White Widow, AK-47 and Purple Haze (haven't tried any of them out yet)... I know White Widow and AK47 are part indica, part sativa... but what about purple haze? Thats a good sativa strain isn't it?

All of those strains are sativa dominant, I've smoked AK-47 before and I enjoyed it, pretty fun high. I've never had White Widow or Purple Haze. And be careful, he may says he has that, but you don't know for sure. I'd ask for a sample bowl since he probably charges more for "brand" name weed.
