I need to make my own soil. Help please

  1. First off, I am a first time grower and have been going through multiple threads and websites regarding soil grow for cannabis

As I have no access to any brand as normally recommended by growers is out of the question (I am from South East Asia), I tried using a local potting soil mix (peat moss, perlite, coco fibre, matured compost, organic fertilizer as per the description on the package) and the result has been less than optimal (stunted growth/nutes issue) and i dont think my current grow is going to make it. (now at Day 38 from germination).

I'm thinking to start my next grow (Auto Pink Grapefruit from Short Stuff Seeds) and was wondering if the soil medium below will work for its entire life cycle? (provided that i work out the correct soil ph of course). I might start it off in a seedling soil mix (consisting of blonde peat with humus) which seems to work during my seedling growth stage before transplanting it to its final 3 gallon pot.

    Soil composition
    3 parts peat moss
3 parts compost (maybe I can replace this with wormcastings instead?)
    2 parts perlite, pre-wet
    1 part vermiculite, pre-wet

I'm not trying to obtain maximum yield out of the grow or anything as I could just like to complete my first grow

And also I'll be growing it indoors (window sill grow in my room) supplemented by a SANSI 24W Full Spectrum LED Grow Light

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks

  2. The basic formula for soil is 1 part base, 1 part aerator, and one part compost.

So that would be like 1 part compost
1 part peat moss or coco coir
    1 part perlite or vermiculite

Worm castings are good to add.

Popular soil amendments to add and their respective nutrient contents:
    • Blood meal (nitrogen)
    • Bone meal (phospherus, calcium)
    • Rock phosphate (phospherous)
    • Epsom salts (magnesium)
    • Crustacean meal (nitrogen, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium)
    • Dolomite Lime (pH balance, magnesium)
    • Azomite (micronutrients)
    • Wood ash/bio char (potassium)
I got this information from Leafly.com. You can read their article here .

    Good luck!

  3. Soil really is not the correct word for what your doing .
Your making compost ,, soilless soil .

    You want good drainage ….

Your lighting isn't enough You need 48 actual watts per square foot minimum of the cheap LED lighting .
24 watts per square foot of quality LED lighting like Samsung / cree/cob.

humidity is going to be a issue
