I need to know what i'm doing wrong when im making brownies

  1. Ok so first of all i know someone who makes brownies all the time. she puts an ounce of high mids into a bowl with 4-5 boxes of brownie mix(so basically a quad for every batch since we put the batter into 4 pans). I've watched her dump the quad into some oil and extract the thc from it. then she takes the oil and mixes it into the other ingredients for the brownie. when she is done putting the batter into the pan, i lick the spoon. When i lick the spoon, i can definitely tell that the brownies that she is making are dank. Theres a very strong tastein the batter. This obviously led to the brownies turning out well.

Now when i tried this, it didn't turn out so well. I think the problem I am having is dealing with extracting the thc from the bud into the oil. This is what I did specifically when I was making the brownies. I used the same ingredients as this girl did.

First of all when I started making the oil, I ground up the whole ounce of bud I had and put it into a pot. Then I poured in enough oil so its barely covering the top of the bud. Then I let it simmer and I stired it every now and then for about 45 minutes. The bud was dark brownish by the time i was done. This is the usual amount of time this girl mixes it. When I was straining the oil, I pushed the bud down so I would get all of the oil out. I only got over a half of cup of oil out when I did this. Each box of brownie mix required half a cup of oil. I mixed 5 boxes of brownie mix and put in the oil that I got out of the extraction.

Then I spread it out into 4 pans. I licked the bowl and I couldn't taste the strong dankness that was present in my friend's batter. After I was done baking, I gave these brownies out to about 12 people and they all said they didnt work. What in the world did i do wrong? I would like to know so I don't make the same mistake again. I'm assuming it's the oil.

  2. You are using way too much brownie mix... like that half cup of oil should all be in one pan of brownies so then they are really potent essentially what you are doing is getting 1/4th less potent stuff since you are using 5 batches of brownie mix. Just use one with all the oil in it and i think your problem will be fixed.

  3. Well in order to make potent edibles you will need to pay close attention to two things. The amount of weed used, and the amount of edibles your making.

So we need a bit more information. How much weed did you use, and how many brownies were there when you were finished.

The only other place you could of went wrong is cooking the weed and oil at too high a temperature can cook off the THC.

But for example. if your friend uses 1 ounce, and cuts each of her 4 pans into 4 brownies each, then you have 16 brownies with 28 grams in them for a total of 1.75Grams per brownie making a real strong brownie. If she cuts the pans in 8 then you get 32 brownies with 28 grams in them for a total of .875 grams per brownie. Which would make a good brownie, but half as strong as the previous example.

As a rule of thumb i use at minimal 1 gram per edible and i think you will find most agree.

So if you used a quarter and made 4 pans and cut them into say 8 each, the you have 32 brownies with 7 grams in them for a total of .218 grams per brownie, then you would need to eat about 5 brownies to get a decent buzz.

So please respond back with the amount you made and amount of herb you used.

I am using 5 boxes of brownie mix. I am using one ounce of bud. Once I take the oil and mix it in with the 5 boxes of brownie mix, I add the other ingredients in and I mix. Then I pour the batter into 4 separate pans. I cut each pan into 16 pieces. so there were a total of 64 pieces. This is the same method my friend does and her brownies turn out very dank.

Also the temperature was on low. I stirred occasionally and let the oil with the bud simmer for about 45 min.
