Story I have been trying to germ nearly 100 seeds from bag seed and it never works. I did every method I seen besides for using stride in the water... But still. The weed I buy is usually brick weed with lots of seeds that don't germ. So now I am going to need to buy seeds. Now I figured if I did this, I am going to do a hydro, pc, or closet grow instead. But what I need to know is how much weed can I get off of 1 plant? I smoke an ounce - a ounce and half a month. I was thinking in growing 2-4 plants. Another thing I wanted to do was make a grow medium. So far I have picked up perlite, and peat moss. What else works good and makes the plants grow faster? I play this game called "Garden of Weeden" and there is something called Fish Emulsion that you can buy that makes it grow faster. And Bat Guano. Where do I get these and will it work? As for the stink later on. I never got passed the germing process so I am still a complete noob on what to do AFTERWARDS. Do I put lime in my medium or what? and where do I go to learn how to make my own medium. I need a place that has pictures because just text can confuse me so sometimes I need someone to show me through pictures or video. At walmart I saw this light fixture for long tube lights. I heard these are called "Fluorescents". I can get the fixtures for $10 each, and if I go this route, I will be using closet grow with a bubble bucket. What lights do I buy though? and how many do I use for 2-4 plants? Or do you guys think I should just buy a grow tent with everything included and just do that instead? Because if I do a PC build, I am buying a server case lol. Every question is in bold. Please help because I read everywhere on these forums and I have short term memory loss at times so its hard to remember everything at once.
What kind of fluorescent lights should I get? I'm at walmart. There is 1 2 pack of daylight ones that is 40 watts and 6500k with 3050 lumens. Help please. I wanna switch to fluorescents.
your questions are really broad but I'll try to help you out even though I never did a grow before but I read alot on this site 1) no one can tell you how much you can get from your plants...could be grams could be ounces depends on if your plants grow the right way, the strain and how good you harvest. 2) google a local hydro store or garden center in your area...they should have everything you need 3) if your going to go flourescent I suggest cfl's. And if your gonna do 2-4 plants figure you need 300-400 watts of bulbs not equivalent watts. You would probably need anywhere from 5-15 bulbs depending on which ones your getting. stick with the 6500k for veg and the 2700k for flowering otherwise to that read, read, and read. 3)There are sticky thread on the top of the absolute beginners forum, take some time and read all of them
dude.. you need to do some reading and studying then before you start spending money... smoke some and chill... growing is a slow, slow, slow, ultra slow process..... first we need a budget you need to get something to grow in... like a tent... or a pc case... pick one then you get a light that will fit the grow space... then you get the bulbs for it then you pick a method ie. soil or hydro then you get your medium, then you start to germ seeds... in that order... if your germing seeds and still have yet to get a light... grow over... please purchase bag.. your plants will only die tough love
I appreciate the responses not many people have been responding to rookies lately from what I read on grow journals. Anywho, I have tried ounces of bag seed and nothing works, I even posted pictures of all the seeds I had before I tried germing them. Most of the seed in my bag are always crushed and I think they do it on purpose so I can't grow my own. The entire day I was testing temps in certain rooms of my apartment to see what would be a good place to grow for winter. I still have yet to decide on a Hydro, PC or Closet type of space. I saw these Fluorescents textures that can fit 2 bulbs at my local walmart and I saw Daytime lights that give 48 watts each. And since they come in a 2 pack, I could just spend about $30 buying the bulbs and the fixture. It has a chain for adjusting. BEST part about tonight was I found everything for a hydroponic setup at my walmart!!! I have read every sticky on the forums, trust me. But my current grow box doesn't have ventilation and its my girlfriends nightstand so I cannot drill holes into it. With 4 26W CFL's, it reachs over 100 degrees which is crazy! So, I figure, a bigger space, and a better light that doesn't give off much heat, some fans, and I should be good to go. I might even buy a cabinet somewhere. And my budget is $1500, trust me, I got the cash to do this. But like I said, I can't even begin unless these damn beans pop. They never do. Imagine over 100 seeds not popping at all when you germ them the EXACT way they are meant to be germed... I am stressed and nearly am giving up on this project. Once again, thanks for the responses, but in the future, please read the entire post before saying that I read on the forums when I have been for months.
beans are not sprouting because they suck... you need very dark beans with lines in them... like almost black.. if their cracked, their garbage.. consider purchasing seeds.. this place... FTW!!!!
Dude my advice to you is to start a grow journal in the indoor grow section WITH PICTURES because people WILL help you the whole way through the grow, even with making modifications to your grow area. As far as germing goes, try this 1)Put your seeds in a shot glass or cup with some water (No, it doesn't have to be full, just deep enough to sink the seed). They'll float for a while but if you tap them after sometime they should sink. Put the cup somewhere dark and warm (and by warm I mean NOT HOT, like room temperature). Check on the seed once a day to see if it cracks. 2) As soon as you see it cracked open a little bit. Grab a tupperware or glad container with a lid. Line the container with 2 paper towels. Pour the water and seed out onto the center of the paper towels. Grab one more paper towel and put it over the seed. Pour some water over the new paper towel and let it soak it all up. Hold the paper towel down with your fingers (careful not to crush the seed) and pour out the excess water that the paper towels didn't absorb. Put the lid on and place the seed in a dark, warm place and check on it every once in a while. You want to open the lid to get fresh air in to prevent mold . 3) Once the tap root is around 1" or longer (You don't want it to get too long though), Plant it tap root down into your medium and begin the grow process. Like I said, make a grow journal with pictures and people WILL help you. EDIT: AND GET BETTER SEEDS. Check the link the Tihspeed provided.
I actually have 2 grow journals that I made during the time I was trying to germinate, its in my signature. They never popped...I guess thats what I get for only having a dealer that smokes brickweed schwag, but yea i've been looking into seeds the past hour. Prices seem to be high but ill figure it out. I am looking at the cheapest seeds, feminized, and short plant types. I honestly don't care what kind it is as long as it gets me high lol. I just took the time to buy some blue mystic, and got a free seed. I only got 2 seeds for $23... Now before it gets here, I need to setup a new room. Should I stick with CFL's since I have them already and just do a PC or Closet grow? Or maybe CFL's with a hydro tub? I want to do regular fluroescents. Ya know, the long tube bulbs. But I have absolutely no idea which ones to get, ill have to look around some more.
2700k for flower 5700k for veg if your broke.. just get the 2700.. and just rock a 12/12 right from the start... this will make a very small plant but it will save you a month of veg... and it will get your first grow over with please just get a budget and pick something to grow in... it saves alot of time
I have decided that tomorrow I am picking up everything for a DWC hydro system. I ordered a blue mystic seed and got a free one because of my purchase, and a friend of mine here on Grasscity is sending me some more seeds from his grow. I am glad to be part of a Community that actually helps when you are in need. These beans were really being bitches. Something tells me that maybe it was a sign to just give up. Watch, if I go to jail, ill be back here to tell ya i told ya so lol. When I was talking about the lights however, I mean the Tube lights. The LONG tube. Not CFL. The Regular Fluroescents. They come in 6500k, and others but no 2700k at the walmart in my town. And they were 48Watts each. So 2 would equal 96W, perfect for 1 or 2 plants I assume? Or should I just swallow my pride and shell out a hundred or 2 for a 400W light?
Is the person sending you seeds just a random person you met on here? If so you better watch out.. You never know who is for real and whos an undercover cop.. Hopefully you met an actual friend and don't meet a cop at the door.. You are wasting your time going hydro tho.. It is harder than soil balancing ph and keeping it from killing your plants quickly.. If you can't get the seeds to pop don't invest in a system.. At least wait until you get the seeds and see if you can get those to pop and make it through a harvest in soil before investing in hydro.. You really need to research.. I've tried to help you all I can, but if you are not willing to look up anything for yourself then I gotta peace out.. I hope you get your grow off the ground and it works out..
