I Need Some New Music

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by DeadbeatTM, May 16, 2012.

  1. It's been a month or so since I've updated my iPod, and so here I am.. needing some sense of direction, or maybe just a new direction to go to.

I am pretty flexible on my musical taste, but this is what I'm looking for right now:

Some good music to meditate to: I've been listening to John Frusciante instrumentals, God is An Astronaut, and Explosions in the Sky. However, I would be interested in throwing some trance music in there as well, so good trance DJs would be appreciated.

Some good music to work out to:
For this I am down for some hard rock i.e. Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, etc.
Currently I've been listening to rap more lately and have been working out to stuff like Lil Boosie, Philthy Rich, Killa Kyleon, etc.

Some good music to party to:
I like electronic music when I'm partying, mostly hardstyle/jumpstyle. I have been listening to DJ Coone, DJ Gollum, DJ Raaban mostly. Anything with some energy would be appreciated.

    Anything else you would recommend;

    Musical Taste:

Classical: Soft, moving stuff. For example, Fur Elise - Beethoven, Four Seasons - Vivaldi, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik - Mozart

Rap: New Westcoast - Ya Boy, Kid Ink, Tyga, Philthy Rich, etc.
South - Killa Kyleon, Lil Boosie, Webbie, etc.
Old Westcoast - NWA, Tupac, Snoop, Eazy-E

Jazz/Blues: Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra **, Dean Martin. Note: I have yet to find the kind of blues I am into. The best I can really compare is Samuel L. Jackson's blues in Black Snake Moan.

    Rock:
Stoner Rock: Desert Sessions, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, etc.

Punk: Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols, Sid Vicious, The Ramones, etc.

Hard Rock: Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc

Classic Rock: Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, etc.

Grunge: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.

Instrumental: Explosions in the Sky, John Frusciante, God is an Astronaut, Buckethead

Indie: Mother Mother, Yuna, Mumford & Sons, City and Colour, etc. (Yes, I know the later are popular "indie".)

New Rock: Black Keys.. that's about it so far lol.

For rock music I am really looking into heavy, sludgey stuff. Note* I fucking hate that whole scream-o shit. If I can't comprehend what is being said, then it is not worth my time. Kurt Cobain does scream in his songs, but it isn't all the way through. I don't like the songs he does sing all the way through.

This is pretty much a thread for everyone to just throw in whatever they like. I am willing to listen to all the new stuff I am brought, and thanks in advance! I am looking forward to discovering all this new music.
