Okay so I've been fucking up a lot ever since i graduated highschool. I dropped all my classes last semester, and didnt give a shit. I also quit my job (at GNC, the vitamin store) I quit that job around christmas time, and STILL do not have another job and havent put in much effort into finding one. I ran out of money, and my parents took away my car, seeing how its in their name and they paid for it, which I truly am grateful for. I dropped all my classes this semester AGAIN and my parents dont know.. Everyday when I leave the house they think im going to class when in reality im going to smoke, or get fucked up and kick it with my friends. I just keep fucking shit up, and I feel horrible, almost like im just a waste of breath. I have ZERO motivation, and can't seem to care about anything. I'm on a road to failure and need to get off ASAP. I think I need to stop burning it down for a little while, until i get back on track.... I just have no idea how to get back on track right now.. I mean i know i have to get a job and actually take classes.... But it just seems impossible. I need my confidence and motivation back where it used to be
I know it's cliche', but... where do you want to be in 5 years? Right now, you know where you are headed. Nowhere. Do what you need to do to earn the respect of yourself, for you to earn your parent's respect and to earn the respect of your friends. No one respects a lazy bum, and the fact that you know that you are headed that direction is a HUGE step in fixing it. Hey.. think about it this way... If you get an education, job, etc... You can get your own place and grow your ass off... Put more into your life NOW, so that you can enjoy life later... and it doesn't sound like you are enjoying life, even though you are just hanging out with friends all the time while lying to your parents. My 2 cents.
I hear you bud, I'm a similar position, at least from a work standpoint. But in all honesty only you can change what is going wrong in your life. If you feel that it is the drugs doing it to you then yeah, it would probably be best to at least slow down a bit and finding work. One way I would look at it is that if you get a job, you will actually have money to spend. You could get your car back, save up to move out, and best of all you will actually be able to afford weed and whatever else you're in to.
I would start looking for a job. Try to find something constructive so that the time passes quickly. Take some time and reevaluate what you want to do. Ton's of people drop their first semester once they get that taste of freedom so don't sweat it. I'm guessing your parent's are paying for your school. Explain to your parent's that you just aren't sure what you want out of life right now tell them you want to get a full time job temporarily until you figure out what will make you happy. Work for a few months or so maybe a year then go back to school. Tell your parents that you do want to go back to school and you just want to save some money up so that you can pay for the next semester yourself and or try to pay them back if you don't show them that you can be serious they will cut funds. Good luck
Your totally right.. I'm unsure about where i want to be in 5 years, it really sucks... I mean of course id love to be living in a house of my own have a job and a car, but im not sure what I want to major in, in order to make that happen Yeah man, i always think about how having money to spend, and having a car is awesome but i still just have this idgaf attitude, and it needs to change im sick of living my life this way
MOST people who go to college and get a degree get jobs that are outside their direct field... So the employer only cares about the fact that you actually went to college, "put your dues in", and that you followed through... Worry more about getting the basics out of the way: Math, Writing, all that crap. You can ALWAYS change your major, so if you hate what you are doing, most credits will go over to your new major. Going the Computer Science / Networking route is always great since people, no matter if you are even an accountant, will need computers. (instead of getting an automotive or culinary degree)
I'm thinking about maybe going into sports&medicine maybe become a personal trainer or physical therapist.
Start with a Biology major and go from there. It's not easy, but if you want $$ in the long run, it's a great opportunity. BTW, I hate school more than most, so I know what a fuc&^(* pain in the ass it is, and you just want to stop, but just think of the end goal. Graduated college in 2004 and I won't be going back
Yeah i'm gonna set up an appt to talk to an advisor.. lol i feel ya man, i always just say Fu*k school i hate it so much... And grats on that accomplishment
Thanks... it was hell on Earth for a while... Sh!t, i had to take Trigonometry once in the fall, once in the spring and then went to summer classes before passing it. The hell of that class just made it taste so much better after passing it. It's EASY to lie to your parents, it's easy to skip school, it's easy to sleep in... Life CAN be easy... but the easy life is rarely rewarded and those people are not proud of themselves of what they are -regardless of what they say. You'll find that buying is wayyyy easier than growing on this forum, yet you have thousands of people picking up the challenge, researching, building, etc.. Not because it's easy but because the reward is worth it. That reminds me.. it's never too late to major in Horticulture
it's good that you know your messing up. that way when you do actually say "this is enough" you'll stop and dedicate yourself. I know too many people who went through what you're going through now and never knew what you know. All of these people have made no social advancement in their lives. just think about you're future and what will MATTER in 5 years. Hint: it won't be smoking and getting fucked up, but if you listen to your own advice of fixing your life, your education will matter. Good Luck! We all go through things like this, it just takes a little bit of self discipline!
