  1. I have mentioned in my first post that I'm currently studying Communication; the class I am currently taking is Intercultural Communication. I am researching to represent the cannabis culture in a 5 minute presentation. My outline is as follows:
    I) cannabis cultures relation to the dominant culture.
II) values and beliefs of cannabis culture.
    III) clothing & material possessions.
    IV) Behaviors, Rituals and Traditions.
    V) Language, Slang, and Expressions used by culture.
I figured I should include more than just my opinion in a presentation that represents so meny people. I'd really appriciate any replies and hope to properly represent the Cannibus Culture.

  2. I can't speak for all, but most cannabis users, (you could call it cannabis culure, but i feel it's too broad, and too much of a generalization) are usually against popular-dominant culture. Hence GC.com 'The worlds best counter-culture community.' Clothing can be laid back you obviously see a lot of Bob marley shirts, along with panchos 'drug rugs', and other colorful clothing. But there is no real set "a stoner looks like X", for example. A person who uses cannabis can look however they do/want. There are no limits.

Some slang for marijuana are, bud, weed, ganja, green, hippie lettuce, loud, kush..etc. I'm sure there are some others that I missed.

Althought there is definitely a 'culture' that smokes weed, I don't really like to define it that much.

  3. I don't think you can really put a name on "Cannabis Culture"

Because you can literally write about thugs and gangs, college kids, responsible adults, or corrupt cops.

It really depends on which side of the issue you are on you are going to be biased upon.

I recommend you try and be as positive as possible to give the responsible adult cannabis users a good name.

  4. Looks like a pretty easy assignment. Only 5 minutes and you got an outline already of 5 topics.
Just be as stereotypical as possible.
    I) Drug users are a hated minority, we just want to be left alone blah blah blah
II) Spaced out hippy bullshit of "everything's connected man"
III) What are those sandals all the hippies wear?
IV) Puff puff pass & drum circles
    V) There's plenty of slang that's fo' shizzle.

  5. ^ Hahaha

man do a report on what a varied group the cannabis culture has become. Anybody can smoke weed and everybody does from the most successful down to the poorest alleycat

  6. That's a lot of points to cover. Maybe choose 1 or 2 of the points you already have and elaborate on them.

  8. For broad beliefs I'd break it down in religion and politics.

    Religion into two sections.

    1) Seeking religion that justify cannabis usage: Rastafari and Buddhism

    2) Frustration with anti-cannabis religious restrictions: Agnosticism, Theism, and Atheism.

    and Politics:

    1) 2-Party System - The domination of family values in American politics

    2) Libertarians - The only major political party serious about legalizing cannabis

For culture you can discuss the 60's versus today's diverse cannabis users.

  9. you need to focus your outline more there is no way that stuff can be covered in 5 mins

  10. That's the outline given by the instructor; I won't be deducted for going over time and there will also be a Q&A after.
