I NEED HELP WITH CLONING with AEROPONIC CLONER!!!

Discussion in 'Aeroponics' started by aheed, Jul 22, 2021.

  1. Hey everyone, I sincerely want to thank every single one of you for reading this, and if you can give any advice that would be extremely helpful!

I am a super noob at growing cannabis, currently, I am growing (Grease Monkey) using hydroponics, DWC system, using General Hydroponics Nutes, Calimagic, Hydroguard & Great White for root rot control, and they are month 3 in vege growing super strong and I want to take 7-8 clones before I turn into flower.

I have Clone King, which is an aeroponic cloner with 32 sites and I want to take an attempt cloning with this cus I did hear a lot of good things about aeroponic cloners. (I built my dwc system with parts but I didnt want to build my own aeroponics cus I want it as close to 100% as possible)

So, I have few questions, I really want these 7-8 clones to root, possibly within 2 weeks, and I want to make it perfect as possible!

    1. I am going to try to maintain 68-72 degrees using IceProbe Thermoelectric Aquarium Chiller. This apparently chills pretty well especially I only need it for 2-3 gallons of water inside the cloner, so I think this would keep it 68-72 degrees no problem. Any ideas about this because I don't have any better option in terms of money spent than going with this one here.

    2. Some sites and forums suggest using hydrogen peroxide or chlorine inside the water to keep the bacteria off bay. I do have hydroguard and great white which i use them to keep the bad bacteria off bay, Do I use hydroguard or greatwhite in the water? Or do I go with hydrogen peroxide or chlorine route. Can I just use tap water (which has chlroine in it) and switch water out maybe every 2-3 days? What are your suggestions regarding the water solution at the beginning? Once I do see roots then I can add in clonex solution or rapid start and give them some food but is it necessary to add nutes from the start? What is the best PH range?

    3. Is there anything I should feed the mother plant more of before taking clones? Some say to use more bloom nutrients with Phosphorus, I need more info on this.

For the cuttings (5-8 inches) I am going to use clonex gel, cut the leaves 1/3, and stick em inside the cloner as soon as possible while its running.
What timer do you run in the aeroponics? 5min on 5 min off? 15 min on 15 min off?

Please let me know how to make this happen, I really need clones to root as I dont want to fail, I put in massive investment trying to root them close to 80-100% I dont mind even 50% success at this point. Thank you all and I appreciate any advice!

*The pictures show branches of few possible clones, they are only 3-6 inches long, I am going to wait until they are 5-8 inches long which is probably in the next week or 2*
*its branching out cus I fimmed it at the top*

  2. I never could get big cuts to root before they faded and died.
Safety in numbers. Do lots of little cuts and the odds are better someone will root.
All you need is a bit of the fan and 3 fingers of the stem.

Without a humidity dome they fade in a week here. To hot and dry to get repeatable results.

70% will root in 2 or 3 weeks. Of that half will be strong enough for me to keep. The rest gets discarded or given away.

I higrade and thin numbers again when they move to soil and again in early veg. Of the 100 I start with maybe 25 will be what I consider top grade.

This is done from the lowest branches that would be all larf and crap if left on the plant anyhow.

I tried about 4 ways before I actually got a living rooted clone. This is Southern California. Hot and dry all year long and it took some experimenting to find what worked for my crappy conditions

  3. so aeroponic cloning is a no no?

  4. thanks for your reply, it helps!

  5. It's basically the same idea as a bubble cloner. It just uses sprayers instead of airstones and bubbles. I freaking love my bubble cloner.

I've always kept my water around 72-75F. I assume 68-72 will be totally fine.

I've never tried anything in my water. I've tried straight distilled water and straight tap water with fantastic results, probably because my tap water is very clean (25ish ppm). I don't see hydroguard being a problem if it's totally fine for plants normally. I'd think the hydrogen peroxide would dissolve/diffuse rather quickly to the point it's not doing anything after a few minutes. :confused_2: I change the bucket with fresh water every 7 days. The cleaner the better, so 2-3 days would be fine. Roots usually show around the 14 day mark for me.

I wouldn't use the clonex gel. It'll get blasted off pretty quickly and then mix in with the water.

The key is the way you cut your clones to prevent air embolisms in the stems. Do it underwater as Yoda describes here: Yoda's bubble cloner post#21

  6. Aeroponic is very Great for cloning.

    To cut to the case:

    Clean tools
They are easier to root if you take from furthest down on the stem.
    45 degree cut
Leave two leafs on that is trimmed the tips off
    Remove other grow
Optional : use the cutter to cut the 45 degree cut a bit more up so more is exposed.
All nodes are potential places for roots to come out

If its very woody rather than soft it will Bee harder to root / take longer time.

You can use one drop of rooting hormones in the reservoir

  7. Thanks for the reply!
Do you recommend not dipping in clonex gel and just drop a droplet of clonex gel into the water instead? I dont understand exactly! Thanks

  8. Hey ! I think clonex gel is for soil ? I have not used it with succeSs. I was referring to a growth hormone (dont remember name) that you can apply one drop of in your reservoir (depending on size)

Yes english is not my first language so some things are lost in translation. But cloning is simple and you will manage it :)

You can try clonex gel and cuts in small pots w soil and humidor over

  9. I use clonex. It’ll wash off immediately but it’s said to be good for your nutrient mix. Cut your clone then go immediately into a cup or water with it. Then into clonex, then into your cloner. I use a turbo king aero cloner with great success. I have a dome but never need it. Clones are 100% success rate. Best of luck

  10. Do you still clone the same way? I don’t plan on cloning very much, but if it’s cheap enough… Potentially doing SOG for the first time, have a mother plant.

What do you use for a hormone or whatnot?

  11. Yes the same way for the last 7 years.

    Rootech cloning gel.
