Hi all, Im Uber confused right now. I started a breeding program about 3 months ago. A month in, I cut clones to see what was what. I started with 20 prospects, culled down to 8. My issue is a weird one. I have a clone where the "mother", in veg, is showing full fledged female traits, pistols etc. The CLONE, however, is showing straight balls. Like balls balls, in the flower tent. Pics attached...help me please
Respectfully, I was hoping for input from someone with experience. I dont want to come off like an ass, but I'd suggest a bit of research on pre-flowering, plus reading the post thoroughly. Plants will certainly show sex during veg IF they are mature, which my brood is. I'm on an almost 4 month veg. Again, im not trying to be an asshole by suggesting you do a smidge of research. I came here hoping for a seasoned input as this is not my first grow or first breeding, just my first time seeing this. So to clarify, mature females, when vegged long enough, will certain show sex through pre flowers
So to clear up any potential confusion from anyone else, the original seeds were sown mid October, ample time to show sex in veg. Clones were cut early on in the life cycle, prior to pre-flowers. Would this phenomena be a strange type of funky herm possibly? Hoping for someone seasoned, to help. Or at least someone that has bred, not simply grown, themselves. Thanks in advance
Look, I'm not one impressed by a big room. Looks good, however, that doesn't speak to my question. You've shown me a pic of a large operation, but your original response was that plants don't show sex in veg ...look man (or lady), I'm too old to have dick measuring contests. Instead of providing me what I asked, you tried to play me, and in essense, played yourself. I don't understand why you wanted to go that route, especially considering you are wrong smh
some photo strains do fall to sex(senescence) as do many strains will grow out opposing sex usually at end of life, its well known and no biggy just your selection of 'mother' will need more planning for all breeding programs keep a detailed note book as these ops are very long and very slow and often the reason why you started this op is long forgotten the fact you hermed a clone means you need to be reading some book to get the basics of a breeding program, messing around at this level is dumb good luck
There is no reason for you have indoor plants in veg @ 4 months. Why so long in veg, your plants in the cold ? All mother plants are flipped at 2 to 3 weeks old or when plant grows 3 to 4 nodes from 18/6 to 12/12 for 5 to 7 days to see what sex the plant is. Then flipped back to veg. Only time you want to Grow plants for like all winter long is if your wanting to trans plant into the field. If what your saying is true the mother plant but the clones hermaphrodite then your stressing your clones . Or you very well might have plant/strain that is prone to hermaphrodite. Your Mother plant is from Feminized or regular seeds . Regardless I don't use feminized seeds. I have allot of mother plants that are 4 and 5 years old. They shouldn't show sex until they are flipped unless your stressing the plants ! On the farm in the beginning it was every other to every third plant that was a hermaphrodite. 5 years later it was every 7th or 8th plant that was a hermaphrodite.
Ok boom! Thanks for that. That makes sense, the strain being prone to herming. As far as why I'm vegging so long, it's simple because I'm not in much of a rush. The older I get, the more I want to get to the finish line in my own time lol. Regarding stress, they're the only 2 in a tent of 16. Consistent range of 78f day 72f night with a 47-60% Rh. Regular lite feedings Sn: look man, im not here to be a dick. And I'm darn sure not here to let someone be a dick to me. I think in this case it was a simple misunderstanding.
They aren't stressed. They get independent attention and soul music lol. I pull them out one by one to inspect before making cuts. Same setup and attention for the father tent as well. I'm not a slouch, I just don't claim to be the best or a know it all, either. I'm just a regular dude with a life and hobbies.
I veg for 4 weeks ..... then they are flipped...... to 14 weeks flowering. Stressing a plant like PH fluctuation to much or not enough nutrients of minerals. Not having the lights on a timer. Pour watering habits . Not to many plants in the grow space . Trust me the big plants take the light away from the smaller plants....
No important questions have been asked. Have you flowered this plant out ever before? Does every clone share the same traits? You'll find more nanners and seeds from stress than hermies.
Going by that picture, those plants have some problems. Going by the original pictures, that mother has some problems. Therefore, if the plants are visibly showing issues......................they are stressed.
oh i dont care what anyone says i keep my clones and mothers in same small pots for months and months and you should see these poor plants all dead growth tips sad yellow and burned leaves just stressed and super unhappy gals but give them fresh soil with ample rootspace it takes one week for them to bounce back and they never ever throw male organs.
All the seeds in question, are from the same brood. This was the only one to show this type of change. I have another strain, same tent, that has not done this. I only came here because I have seen females herm, and I have ONCE seen a male flip, but never the way this one has changed. So I was curious if anyone had experienced it before, like this. Have I flowered this particular plant before? No, that's the "why" I'm doing things the way I am. I want to see the finished product of each before my next cull. Does every clone share the same traits? No, because there's only one clone per potential. All others do not seem to present this flaw. All in all, I am getting rid of it
You come on here asking for help, then shit all over the people who answer you. You act like you already know everything. If you don't know what if wrong with those plants, you have no business breeding. Figure it out.
