I need help customizing my supercloset....

  1. Right now I have my 2 WW plants flowering under a 400w hps light, in one of my grow cabs. The problem is that the cab is not really big enough for that light. It is 24x48x46. the light is air cooled, but I'm not really sure how much good it's doing. During the day I've been leaving the cab doors open a crack and the temps still get right up to abotu 93-94 degrees! At night I keep the doors closed and locked and the temp stays consistently between 71-74 degrees. Any ideas how I could keep the temps in check, maybe even so much so that I could keep the doors closed during the day as well? My plants have been in this cab for a couple weeks now and are showing signs of heat stress, but they still look very healthy. Can't really post any pics right now cause they're sleeping, but this is the cabinet that I have. Any ideas would be great......

And you can't really tell from the picture, but along with the a/c light the only intake is really a hole in the upper right with a light trap on the other side to keep it dark. And the only output really is through carbon scrubber which I don't even have on yet. I do have a bigger fan in there blowing on the plants, because the one they send you is pathetic. I'm thinking about taking out the divider, because I've been using my other room for vegging, but I just figured I'd see what people have for suggestions before I go drilling holes in my extremely overpriced grow cabinet. Thanks Again...

  2. Switch on the scrubber, fool!

You need air-FLOW. Preferably a hole IN the bottom somewhere, where the air is cooler.

Problem solved. Why on earth didn't you switch on the fan?

  3. No excuses mu sorry....haha. Honestly I just looked at the scrubber as odor control, instead of actually thinking of it as an output for the box. Literally (sp?) 5 minutes after plugging it in the temps dropped down about 6 degrees. I still had the doors open a tiny bit though. Any ideas on the cab in general. I think I'm going to cut a few intake holes into the bottom, and take out the middle divider. Then hang my 150w hps in there as well and use the whole thing for flowering. Then veg in my other room. If I do stick to that plan I figure I could fit 8 nice sized indicas in there, put 2 in every 2 weeks and have 2 done every 2 weeks. Sounds alright to me.....any other suggestions?

  4. hahaha! Nice one!

As for the chamber, removing the division will only be useful if you get a bigger light methinks. 150W HPS isn't a lot, and is only good to cover around 1'9" x 1'9". And if you get a bigger light, chances are your air filtration won't be able to handle the increased temperature, so you'd need to replace that, too.

The cabinet is somewhat limited, but if you work within those limits, you could harvest a few ounces out of that box. Number of plants is irrelevant, what matters is light intensity-per-square-meter, and veg time.

And yes, holes in the bottom for air intake, around twice the size of your exhaust ought to do it, perhaps a strip at floor-level. Remember to keep it light-tight. Also, close the door. Air-flow will be improved when the door is closed.

  5. If stealth is not an issue get a bigger (external?) reservior. I don't invision the rootmass + nute solution having enough space in that little thing! Otherwise its pretty sweet with the mother/flower box all in one... :D :smoking:
