I need Heat... temp problem.

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by winkless, Feb 3, 2011.

  1. So over the past few days about a foot of snow has set in and temps have not only dropped outside but are dropping in my grow room. I have never had a problem with not having enough heat, my temp in flower room has dropped to 67, which normally during lites out, it never drops below 70, actually 72 has been my lowest temp in 3 grows. I already have small heater and until now it has worked fine.
My question is should I add more heat, will the low temps cause stress and make them hermy or is 67 ok?
I have one more heater I can add, but I really need it in veg room because temps have dropped considerably in there as well. I only have T8s in there for clones and Mama and temps are very low around 60, but if I have to sacrifice all that to keep my flower room from stressing I will.
I know that buying more heat is more than likely my best option, but as we all know times are hard and if no need to spend the money then why spend it.
    Thanks for any help...

  2. shit my room was at like 61 degrees a few days ago and still is quite low.

but thats because i opened the window during the snowstorm.

i dont think it will hermie just turn super purps probably lol.

  3. Man, I wish I had that problem. My problem is always too much heat. If I were you, I would buy more lights.

    More Lights=higher temps

  4. or just get a 1/100 of the price heater on a timer.

  5. but my question is 67 is ok??? or do i need more heaters or anything else???
    i feel bad...

  6. 67 is a bit too low.

If you do nothing and your guys still go strong (they are weeds after all) the bud will prob be more purple than anything... not strain purple temp purple.

  7. then how can i solve it??? any info plz...

  8. 67 night temps is totally fine. You might even get some purple out of it! Don't worry about it.

  9. Thanks for all your helpful answers guys, does the purple have any affect on potency?

  10. well the temperature should warm up out side since the snow passed so you wont have to deal with the problem so they will be fine

  11. That is a bit low for the plants. If the problem consists, I'd recommended getting another light such as an HPS, mine is pretty warm :) or trying to contain the heat in that room (keep doors closed) or if that room gets cold, keep the doors open so warmer air can enter

  12. I wouldn't worry too much about it.. Any lower yes, but as long as it stays around there you should be fine.. Those temps will change your bud colors, but at least for mine it didn't slow down growth at all.. :smoke:

Oh and no the purple doesn't add anything to the potency.. Just makes it look danker if the strain has the potential to turn.. The potency is from the strain itself..

  13. now, its the matter of thinking a little more in fans... can i turn off my fans at night???

hmm, i wish too... if it is passed... its time to count down :D

i know... what about you think of HID's. another Heater? I am now one step
    away...

    ok, that will be fine.
Thanks for your nice comment... :hello:

  14. Guys, there is absolutely nothing wrong with 67 degree lights out temps. No its not cold at all, no, its not cold that will bring purple. 67 night time temps are actually right where you want them to be. 70's with the lights out probably means 80's wit the light on, so you would want to cool it off a bit.

But Anywhere in the mid to upper 60's with the light out are actually perfect temps, you need not do a thing except sit back and know you have really good lights out temps.

  15. yea I agree with badaxe. OP if your really concerned about your temps go buy a hydrofarm seedling mat...I think that would help.

  16. This :hello:

  17. thank you all for kinda suggestion to help me out...
Thank You BadAxe to keep to lay on my foot...

  18. Personally if I could have my night temps at any temp I wanted them. I would always choose the upper/mid 60's. Much less chance of diseases and insects! Nothing but good can come out of it. Also whoever said 67 won't help purple coloring is wrong. It definitely will. If the day temps are about 10 degrees higher that is a perfect environment to bring out purpling in phenotypes that have that tendency.

  19. I was not talking about the purple strains when I said that. I have seen strains that would not normally be purple, turn purple when coolest temps reached the upper 50's, low 60's. That will not happen with 67 degree night time temps. It needs to be a bit cooler for that, at least based on my experiences. But if I am worng on that, no biggie, and thanks for correcting me.

  20. Oh yeah you're right. I was thinking of strains that have some kind of purple in their genetics.
