I Need A Tutor!

  1. I'm 100% brand new too this. I've never attempted to grow before in my life. I ordered two autoflowering seeds off herbies head shop, 1 seed per pack, biodiesel mass and kaya 47 (advanced seeds). I'm growing both in the same 6 Foot tall wardrobe maybe 2-3 ft wide. What lights should I get? What do I need to know about the light? Soil recommendations? Mnutes? Help please I need all the info and tips you have!

  2. Read the stickies. They are the first threads at the top of the page. Even with people answering your questions, you are going to have to dedicate a good chunk of your time to reading on your own and doing research. HID discharge lights (HPS and MH) are the best, hands down. You can also grow with CFLs or fluorescent lighting if HID isn't an option.

I would recommend you do an easy, organic soil where all you have to do is add water. Get a decent base soil and a decent dry organic fertilizer. If you can give me a general idea of the region you live in I can recommend a decent bagged soil (send me a PM if you want). Espoma "tomato tone" or "garden tone", Dr. Earth (all purpose mix or tomato vegetable and herb), and Down to Earth (all purpose mix or tomato and veggie) are three good brands of organic dry fertilizer to look for. Avoid anything miracle grow. Always, yes, always avoid anything miracle grow. With an organic grow, you don't have to buy expensive bottled nutrients, a pH meter, or any of that. You don't have to worry about measuring your pH and deficiencies are far less common when growing organically. You don't have to worry about "flushing" with organics. All you have to do is water your plant with plain water and it will reward you with healthy, tasty, beautiful buds. Most importantly, read the stickies! Then read some more. If you haven't devoted at least 10-20 hours to just reading, you haven't read enough. HTH

  3. Thats it? lol....i mustve read at least 48 hours worth and theres still TONS i dont know

  4. Yeah, and buy a book or two. There's a thread on here for book reviews. I strongly recommend "The Cannabis Grow Bible" by Greg Green.
Decide where you want to grow. Sketch a floor plan, 3 dimensional (height is very important). Micro box, tent, closet, basement... the bigger area you have to work with, the more forgiving for your first grow. But the important thing is to design around the space you have, pick the lights / ventilation to fit that, set it up, be sure temperatures are stable (human comfort) then get your seeds started.
Once you have a good idea of what you want to do, there's lots of help available on here just for the asking. But a bit of good advice, the more specific your question, the better the quality of answers:)

Half the fun is in the learning and preparation, the other half is in the bong.
Bestaluck to ya, now go do it!!!

  5. I know, me too. At least. I've spent several weeks of my life reading about gardening stuff. I just didn't know what the norm was. At first I was going to say 40-50 hours but then I thought that was just me being extreme. Glad to hear it's not!

  6. The best way is what the above said. Read the stickies, google some grow guides and perhaps pick up a book and read it. Most of all the basics are covered in all 3 and once you read a couple guides they start to sound pretty similar. Once you do that figure out how much you want to spend and gather the things you need which really are not all the much. Then dive into it. The best way to learn is to do and to stumble along the way. Failure is life's greatest teacher. Not saying your going to fail but every grow something odd happens or some issue and its all a learning experience.

  7. Once you get you materials set up a grow journal. You will get tons of help that way

  8. I started out by just reading High Times magazines or Skunk Mag. They are entertaining enough to keep your attention plus they also add a lot of useful information. The come out once a month so i read it as soon as it comes out. Other than that hit youtube, but the best experience is to just jump in and get help from GC as you go along.

  9. Hey guys! I appreciate all the tips! I haven't started yet but it's all I can think about hahah! I had some legal trouble and now I'm living with my girlfriend and her parents hahah.
