I know asking questions here is frowned upon...

  1. But I figured someone who spends most of their time in this section would be better suited to help me. I attempted a QWISO two days ago (at least I think I did). I soaked my grinder in 91% Iso and shook for about a minute. I poured it into a dish to let it evaporate. For some reason I decided to transfer the liquid through a coffee filter and into a glass bowl that i ran over a small pot of boiling water (as a double boiler) for a good 15 minutes or so. This is where I think I messed up, and where your help comes in.

I let the bowl of liquid evaporate in a dresser drawer, and now, about 36 hours later, I am left with a Greenish/Yellowish tinted sticky oil substance lining the bottom of the glass bowl. Have I successfully made oil through a QWISO or did I just royally waste my time, lol. Help ASAP would be greatly appreciated!

  2. Pics would help.

  3. Yeah thats the oil, that shit will get you hella stoned, you gotta scrape it up

  4. I would:

    1) Take pics and show us :)

    2) Scrape that shit up and chief it

    :smoke:

  5. Here are some pictures. Like I said it looks like I yielded something significant, I just want to make sure it's safe to smoke you know? It's my first time doing this sort of thing and I knew all your advice would be the best place to look. Thanks for helping!

  6. thats not oil you made, unless you put oil in somewhere and i missed it. if its qwiso like you mentioned before the liquid is the excess alcohol, still evaporating. i would recommend being patient and letting it sit a couple more days until it completely evaporates. ive made qwiso quite a few times and i personally prefer it to be dry as hell, it should crumble when i scrape it up with a razor blade. anyhow, the alcohol/water (it is something like 8% water) will eventually dry completely so be patient. i dont think its harmful to smoke it early, i know i have sampled some pretty gooey qwiso, but id say it gets quite a bit better later on. not to mention its much easier to use than the tar that youll get if you take it up early. i know its hard to wait but its worth it in the end.

oh and ive found if you can keep it somewhere dark the color is much better on it.

  7. Well it was sitting in my dresser drawer closed so I'd say that's dark enough. I just scraped some off the sides and smoked a small bowl of some bud with a dab of this on top, then two bowl packs in my bowl. I just threw a metal screen over it and dropped some oil on top. It tasted very 'charcoaly' but it was smooth and relaxing. I think I will let it sit a few more days and see what happens. For future reference, what is the best way to do this again using my grinder?

  8. next time use a big flat plate or a glass dish. this allows more surface area for the eavaporation to happen faster. also what can help is if you use a small fan. it helps evaporate it even faster so u can smoke it sooner :D

  9. hey man  how much was in your grinder to begin with?

  10. Well I emptied the accessible keif out of the grinder before I did anything, but mainly the point of using my grinder was the fact that it was never cleaned in my 1+ year of owning it (and I got it off a friend so I don't even know how long she had it for) so I figured it would be appropriate.
