I just deleted my entire music collection. Fuck my life.

  1. I was trying to clear up disk space and I assumed that iTunes would have all my music saved on it, so I deleted the folder. Now all my songs are listed on there, but they won't fucking play because the original files are all gone. Unhappiness.

  2. Do a system restore?

  3. How do I do that?

  4. Unless you emptied your trash, your files should still be there. Simply restore them, and go on with your music.

  5. oh man I feel for you. :(

If my library were to vanish I'd have no fucking clue what to do with myself.

  6. Cant you just Redown load them, since they are on your account and its free to re-download.

but any who ummm to system restore....uhhh got xp? got vista?...is 7 out? anyway just do a ummmmm shit how do you do it

    meh google it.

Press F9? i think during boot up

then go to bah youll see it, once you get into diagnostics screen.

Your 18+ yr old and a guy (i think) learn to use computers. lol :D

  7. Ive deleted all my music before,in a different way though.I just ended up redownloading all of it,and it fucking SUCKED.

  8. You can probably find System Restore in the Control Panel somewhere

  9. fyi, itunes makes a big stink about letting you redownload your purchases for free. they tell you they will do it once and from then on you are on your own

  10. You definitely have a few options to get your music back:

First, definitely try a system restore if you have that option available. In control panels there should be a file called "Backup and Restore Center" (in Vista, I think it's just "System Restore" in XP). Double-click it and follow the instructions.

If, for some reason, you CANNOT do a system restore, AND you have an ipod that you synched recently, it is possible to get all the music that was synched to your ipod back onto your computer.

To do that, plug your ipod into your computer, but DO NOT synch it (you will lose everything if you do) and close itunes.

What you want to do is open up "my computer" and right-click on your ipod, then select "explore". You will find a folder filled with other folders all of which contain files with odd number-letter names, things like "x6h87b". This is your music collection.

Copy the entire thing onto your hard drive and then open itunes. Tell itunes to "find" music files in the folder-of-folders. It will detect and load up your music collection. Many songs will be fine, correctly named and everything, but some may need to be re-named manually in itunes. That can be a real pain, but it's better than not having all of your music.

    Good luck.

  11. if u deleted the file then it should be in your recycling bin, just restore the file in the recycling bin.. problem solved

  12. I feel ya man.. I have around 20 gigs waiting for me once I get a power supply installed...

Shoulda backed my shit up

  13. If your music is on your ipod still use the program sharepod to bring it all back onto your computer. All the right files names artwork and stuff

  14. are u serious??? sorry everybody doesnt chill on their computer everyday...seriously i bet not a lot of people know how to do that shit....dont be such an asshole

  15. I have 98% of my music backed up in 4 different places. Two are computers, one is an Ipod, and one is a 160gig storage drive that sits on a shelf.
When you DJ and you have over 10K in music, you dont lose it lol.

  16. Oh my God, man. Try to recover that shit! I have 21 gigs of music I've collected throughout the years and I would cry like a little bitch if it all got deleted.

  17. if you have an ipod with all your songs you can use iDump and add the files again, i just got a new desktop for school and added all the songs on my ipod +5000 songs to my comp

  18. damn, how much bandwidth did you use?

  19. want a demonoid account?

  20. same shit happened to me. FUCKING SUCKS. I feel ya
