I've smoked a lot of bud in my time, but i'm going to be honest. I haven't found "a favorite strain". I've been smoking habitually for 6 years, and most of the strains that i've smoked i've known nothing about and a lot of them i'm sure are just made up names from the dealers. I want to smoke buds that have been grown professionally and researched, i'd find the experience a lot more educational and progressive. It'd be like testing the experience, and rating it, then i'd be able to find a favorite strain from similar strains or hybrids that i enjoyed or made me feel good. I feel like i've smoked too much homegrown bud that people just try and make dank as fuck but put no thought into. Growing marijuana is about more than just making the bud "dank" or potent, different strains make you feel differently. Last year my friend bought some "green crack" some how and i really liked it, but i'm sure there are other strains that i'd enjoy a lot more, and i wish i could find my favorite strain and just smoke it all the time. Or maybe get to the point of finding a strain i like, getting educated about growing and making hybrids and then making my own favorite strain that goes with my individual mind. I believe everyone could have their "own strain" that would make them feel great. Since i live in a state where it's not even medically legal, i have little to no access to strains that have been professionally grown. They're just dank as fuck and i don't know anything about them, and i feel like the people just make it dank and don't even know what it is. Some strains are so dank, but just make me feel terrible and uncomfortable. I'm a man of structure, i like to have information about the things i like. Marijuana needs to be legal so i can explore and "experience" it for what it actually is. I feel that too many people take marijuana for face value, and don't realize it's actual potential to be a fulfilling hobby. I truly love marijuana and to smoke it, and i'm insulted by this country to be called a criminal for that. The only thing that's criminal about buying marijuana is that we have to buy it from criminals. If it were legalized and regulated properly, people would be able to experience it for what it potentially is, and to some it's a reality. (professional growers/researchers of marijuana) You'd be able to share "your strain" that would be apart of your "vibe" with other people and they'd tell you what properties they enjoyed about it. And that would only be part of the whole "experience". I feel like the way it is now (for most people) the criminal way of smoking, is this idea that "smoke really dank bud that gets you soooo high" but people all experience different marijuana strains in different ways, so it's not as enjoyable as it could be. It still is great, but it's not all that it could be, and i feel like if everyone was as passionate about it as they could be if they knew what the potential was, then they'd all be so much more happy about it. Lets say my scenario were to come true and this is what it'd be like: Everyone individually would be able to try strain after strain and eventually find the one that they fell in love with, they could either perfect it for themselves by being educated and make hybrids that suited their liking, or just stick with the one that was professionally distributed. (if they were to name their strain it could be anything they want, but they just have to give the names of the two strains that they used to make it to avoid confusion.) After they have "their strain" then you could just meet up with your friends in a comfortable/safe atmosphere and exchange your opinions about the buds while sharing your opinions on how everyones "vibe" feels. That's my dream. and i've yet to "experience" that.
Chances are that if you hadn't grown it yourself you probably don't know all that much about it. It's disappointing to not be able do this all myself, it's one of my goals.
Haha, i feel like whenever i explain a good idea that i have, there's always some woman that's like "yeahhh, i don't care ".
tl;dr however, I came to say: "Don't be a strain snob." Also, you have not experienced marijuana until you have smoked some kind of quality grade hash oil. That is the most psycho-active/intense experience marijuana will give you.
This is exactly what i'm talking about. No offense man, but everyone who smokes doesn't smoke to get "stoned out of their mind". It's not how high you get, it's about how much you enjoy it. Now you may enjoy smoking because of how high and how psycho-actively stoned you may get, and more power to you if you truly enjoy that, and i think it's great that you chose to share that, and that is exactly what i'm talking about. If we were together i'd share my favorite strain "green crack" with you, and then id smoke some of your favorite quality hash oil. Then id tell you what i liked, and what i disliked about it.
Seems to me like you got to experience marijuana at least once if you know what strain you'd like to share I feel for you when you mentioned people just growing to make marijuana more potent and naming it whatever they feel like, but what matters to me is how I feel after smoking.
You understand the concept though , the point i'm trying to make is that the federal government is keeping us from truly enjoying it and keeping all of that potential from us. For some reason people think it's about "how high you can get, even if it makes you feel uncomfortable." That's not what it's about, it's about finding the strain that makes you feel the best and then embracing it in every way that you can. Then maybe sharing that experience with someone else, or just have everyone get together in one setting and smoke all of their favorite strains for themselves and just spend time with each other and just bask in the smoke . What a great time that would be, and it would all be possible with coffee shops here. A place to spend time with friends and enjoy your favorite buds. That's how it is over there, and over here it's like this criminal mentality where people just smoke stuff they know nothing about that makes them really stoned but at the same time uncomfortable. I hear people all the time say "dude it makes you sooooooo high, i was freaking out!!!" Why do that, when you could get stoned and feel good on your favorite strain and spend time with you friends. Sure people do that already, but i'm saying it could be so much better if they found their actual favorite strain and perfected it. See the point i'm trying to make? And it's just not possible when we're made a criminal for that kind of thing.
I'm not sure many people will really get what youre after, Larebare, but Im with you. Hell, one (of many) reasons why I decided to bite the bullet and start growing for myself is so that I can experience a much wider variety of strains. With the exception of White Widow, which I havent had in a few years, each of the strains Im growing will be 'firsts' for me. I've just recently started looking into concentrates etc (might as well put all my cuttings/shake to good use!) so that I can experience it all, kinda like zombiegreen was getting at. I defiintely have my preferences, but I dont discriminate
Most people who smoke are desiring the psychoactive experience. It's not just for the feeling of being in a different mindset, its the EXPERIENCE of being in a different mindset. The fact that we can ingest things that change our perception is an incredible part of science. Really hardcore psychedelics even dissolve your ego. Who, in their right mind, would want that? Psycho-naughts, who are not afraid of diving into the unknown and giving up their personal self. Like an Astronaught being launched into space, the psychonaught wants to be launched into higher consciousness.
This has brought the whole "experience" thing for me into new light. I agree, the experience includes all of your feelings (good and bad). I'll keep that in mind, but at the same time, i'd rather be smoking something that makes me feel good. If i wanted a psychedelic experience i'd just take unmentionables. I think marijuana might be about both of these aspects.
The main reason psychedelics are not used widely today is because of societal pressures. Our 1st-world society (one that is about the cyclic nature of production/consumption) does not find psychedelics to be necessary. Instead it deems the user of a psychedelic as "not being able to accept their reality", being "weak-willed." When in actuality, the nature of reality is entirely complex. And those who do NOT subject themselves to at least one powerful psychedelic experience are in fact NOT experiencing the "truth" of reality. Your subjective experience of reality is different than your objective experience. What you see,hear,touch,smell,taste...it's all generated by your brain based on quantum events...events at the "super small." The "super small" being the true nature of reality. The fact that psychedelics exist and have an impact on our mind (one of positivity, not negativity) suggest that we should be utilizing their great power as a species. We deem it not so because in order to have maximized production/consumption cycles we must constantly be devoting our time to work, the opposite of sitting there and having a psychedelic experience. Society makes psychedelics taboo. It is the reason we have to call them "unmentionables" (which is extremely silly) on this website. Because it makes people uncomfortable and the Mods don't want to deal with it. Just as society doesn't want to deal with it. Marijuana is a psychoactive substance. It is gaining popularity again, a popularity that was lost because of politics and fear, and people are realizing that it produces amazingly positive effects in their lives. (of course marijuana can be abused however, it must be used in moderation, like everything.) Eat too much = you get fat and lazy. Work out too much = addicted and lose too much weight, become uninterested in other activities Read too much in your room = lose social ability Play too many videogames = get fat and lose social aptness Smoke too much marijuana = become a lazy, unmotivated stoner in society Drink too much water= die from H20 poisoning Marijuana is a psychedelic. It is also a stimulant and a depressant. However, if you truly want a powerful psychedelic experience you must turn to other unmentionables. Also, the psychdelic experience does make you feel good. It makes you feel a euphoria of love and unity unlike anything you can even comprehend without experience of it. It is the ultimate feeling of "good." Buddhism refers to it as the "Clear Light" or "White Light." Its the realization of eternal unity of all living beings from microorganisms to macro-organisms and hyper-intelligent life forces which see things in 4th, 5th, 6th dimensions and so on.
yea i agree. so many dealers sell me weed, and literally 50% of the time i'm told it is Cali OG Kush. like... are you kidding me?
