I HATE my insomnia.

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by arefx, Aug 17, 2007.

  1. I seriously hate this shit. I went to my doctor about this problem about a year and a half ago about this problem and he said to change my diet, excersize more, etc.. which I did and it didn't help... I went back and he said to give it time.. so for the past year ive been using pot as my medicine to help me fall asleep at night, and trust me it works wonders. The only problem is im broke and dry and have been for the past couple days... so pretty much I cant fall asleep. I am soooo fucking tired but when I try to sleep I just lay there.. I feel wide awake and dead tired at the same time. It is honestly the the most aggravating feeling in the world. I seriously just want someone to beat me unconscious right now so I can sleep.

sorry for ranting but im so annoyed right now and need to vent. All I want is 4 hours of decent sleep, that is ALL im asking for!!! UGHGHGHHHHHH. Im sick of this shit controlling my life. I really want to go to the doctor and tell him to give me a rx for ambien or something even though I don't really want to take any of the rx sleeping pills becuase they arent exactly very healthy for you.

  2. Man I feel for ya. I've been a "natural" insomniac most of my life:(, Now I also have several permanent:( med. probs that are extremely painful, and i've been avg. less then 2to3hr.s a nite for over a year:eek: many nites I don't sleep at all. comes in handy when I'm playing music. Also have huge stress level, recent divorce.......etc.....If it was'nt for my med MJ script, I don't know if I'd get ANY sleep:smoke::bongin::bongin::bongin::bongin::bongin:

Good luck on tryin' to catch some rest!!

  3. gnc. valirum root will help a few times. Then i suggest Diazapan/valium.

I've been dealing w/this since before I care to remeber. My docs have pushed every new drug made. They all have wak siee affects, so back to valium. Only reason I suggest is to save money.Prescrip 20$ for 120 mg and all you'll take is 5 at most to sleep 3/4 hrs(well it does me)

    If nothing else I'm here.

  4. i havent been able to sleep lately, i got to sleep at six this mornin and i wake up cuz my brother is shakin me goin, hey theres someone coming to fix the window and hes going in the backyard, you have to move your plant.

FUCK his pussy ass bitch ass ho ass couldnt fuckin move it himself, its a fucking cup.

  5. I would have killed him, but I did laugh at your situation. sorry...(snicker)

  6. haha its alright man im laughin bout it right now haha, but it was fuckin ridiculous earlier.

  7. I also have wicked insomnia. Ambien does zero for me other than to upset my stomach the next day.

Someone recently gave me some holistic advice. I found this to work very well for me, and hopefully by passing it on, others will try it.

It was suggested to me that I add two very important supplements to my regimen, which I did and am very happy to say work miracles:

<li> Some natural source 5-HTP (Griffonia Seed aka Griffonia simplicifolia) to take 50-100mg late in the evening before winding down and going to bed

    <li> Quantum Nutrition Labs living source Melatonin Nano-Plex ( http://www.qnlabs.com/products04.php#mela )

These supplements in combination greatly help my insomnia which is fairly serious. The 5-HTP compensates for the reduced serotonin that results from herbal medicine usage allowing me to actually get into a deeper sleep when I do finally fall asleep, and the melatonin (non-synthetic, probiotic produced) puts me down into a deep sleep sooner. And obviously, it should go without saying.... I do not watch TV or movies at night and do not stare at a computer monitor!

    I personally can't fall asleep unless there's a tv on, but that's me. :)

Also, eat a banana or drink some warm milk before bed.

For me, the two supplements was an incredible change. I am a very light sleeper, and these two supplements put me into a very deep relaxing sleep.

  8. If he's gonna go for diazepams, a long acting one such as Valium (diazepam) or Klonopin (Clonazepam) are far better than the infamous Xanax (alprazolam). I know Clonazepam works for me where Alprazolam (Xanax) made me hyper.

If possible, stay away from diazepams.. For one, you can't just stop taking them. If you do, you might have seizures. You need to 'taper off' down to a smaller dose. Screw that. I think that's more frightening that the insomnia.. Seizures?! No thank you.

Last year I tapered off the no-longer effective Clonazepam and decided to try the holistic approach.. I am happy to report that it is working well for me. YMMV of course.

Valerian ( Valeriana officinalis ) has been used for millenia. The greek physician Galen of Pergamum perscribed it for insomnia. It is also used for high blood pressure, gastro-intestinal spasms, epileptic seizures, adhd, and menstrual cramps. In my birth country, it is an established medical treatment, not an over the counter herbal medicine that may or may not be effective.

The Office of Dietary Supplements maintains a good fact page on Valerian: Highly recommend reading it -- http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Valerian.asp

  9. This summer(which was 4 months long for me) I went a total of 4 nights without smoking before I went to sleep, and 3 of them I couldn't sleep, one of them being last night. But I have to say weed does wonders for sleep, so try to be conservative, hold in your hits longer, etc. Also try kief hits if your broke.

  10. Sucks for ya man.....I had some last night. Went to bed around 1am and woke up at about 3am for no reason and COULD NOT go back to sleep for my life. I wound up dozing back off around 8am....5 hours before I had to be at work.

  11. i read somewhere that getting sunlight for an hour (/w clothes ok [i think])can help insomniacs sleep but dont take my word

  12. I was lead to believe by the VA doc that diazapam was a generic valium? Are these two drugs different in more than name?

I like valirum root. But isn't valium made of this?

Fucking cheap ass VA!! Wonder what else they feeding me?

  13. Diazepam is infact the generic name for Valium. Valium usually comes in 2.5, 5mg and 10mg, the most common being 5 and 10mg.

Clonazepam is the generic name for Klonopin. It comes in 0.25gram to 2gram dosages, 1 and 2 being most common.

Alprazolam is the generic name for Xanax. It comes in .5 to 2gran dosages, 1 and 2 being most common.

I would say out of all these Clonazepam is probably the mildest drug.

This group of drugs is also refered to as diazepams. Diazepams cannot be stopped cold turkey - you need to taper down your dosage to prevent seizures.

Seizures upon cold turkey are most likely with Xanax (Alprazolam) and least likely with smaller doses of Klonopin (Clonazepam.)

This is from my wife who is a medical doctor.

  14. ++K StreetSpirt for info. I've taken All those:) I hate xanex! I've never stopped taking Valiums in yrs. I take 20 or so mg a day. Bad day few more. The pharmacy people hate me. I'm a hippie. I get profiled as dirty old drug addict excon craddle robber(sorry kirara). Nice people aye?

  15. Same here, not much anymore thanks to weed.

  16. Just make him prescribe you something.

Like when I wanted a xanax prescription, the guy wanted to give me 40 orange ones for a month (those are 1/4th of a bar, and im a 300 pound male)

I just laughed at him and said forget it, I'll just keep getting the bars illegally if I got to, and he gave me a prescription for bars.

So you can say something like its not helping anything he is saying, and you can only sleep when you take 3-4 Tylenol PM's and night, and he is either gonna help you with a prescription or watch you destroy your liver by taking that many PM's daily.

Im tellin you, he will get that pad out.

Yeah sleeping pills are not healthy, but neither is not sleeping at night.

I have struggled with insomnia in the past, you get pissed just laying there, personally I get so mad when im turning over ill punch my bed and shit, thinking what the fuck is wrong with me why cant i just fall asleep!

  17. Valium and Valerium root are completely unrelated.

Valium is just a brand name. It has no components or constituents of Valerian group, not even close.

It's like comparing pot to pills.. Valerian root grows from the God's earth. Valium is fashioned in a lab by pharmaceutical companies.

    :)

Take my advice. Sunlight, the herbs I mentioned, melatonin, valerium root, and you'll be out like a baby.

Pot makes it harder for you to stay deeply asleep. I go through the same thing, believe me, and this stuff does make a tremendous difference.

Valium (Diazepam) will do the job, but you often feel groggy afterwards, the effects diminish requiring a dosage raise, and the major problem is you can't just not take it -- you get seizures unless you taper off.

I would take herbals and natural extracts far more readily than I would diazepam [valium] or any diazepam-like drug, but.. That's just me.

Hope this helps, and hope you get some sleep!

  18. Haha, I get profiled also. It's not as bad with Klonopin, but sometimes they'd flat out refuse to fill my Xanax prescription! (Even though they could've just as easily called the doctor and verified the legitimacy of the script.)

I'm not old enough to have seen the 60's, and God ddn't bless me with a full head of hair, just enough for a Willie Nelson pony-tail these days, and I'm not exactly 20 anymore... But, the nice pharmacy folks sometime flat out tell me to go elsewhere :)

    Here's a suggestion-

Find a large chain. Get your doctor to write out a few perscriptions for various stuff like ibuprofen, etc (bull in other words.) If you have insurance coverage, ask them to add you to the computer. Tell the pharmacist you recently moved to the area, and what medications you're on. Be honest about your concern with filling your legally prescribed medication.

Trust me on this one. NO Pharmacist wants his store to be dragged into court (even small claims) for 'profiling' and refusing to fill a valid prescription. With a doctor's letter and a sympathetic judge, it could be a field day (even in small claims!)...

For me, this worked well.. I went to a CVS nearby, and told them flat out that for years I've been having problems with various pharmacies trying to fill my legally prescribed pills, and often the anxiety alone is enough to bring on problems. I said something along the lines of 'if I was to have a seizure because they refused to fill it, I would've sued them and won big.' ..

Anyway the senior pharmacist here personally entered my insurance info into the pc, and my doctor has even called in a Klonopin perscription.

But I fully agree.. No-one should have to go through that indignity, and I walked in them shoes my friend.

    Take care
