First off, when I say I hate alcoholics, I do not mean the actual person. I am referring to the person most people become when alcoholism takes over.

I searched and was surprised to find that there isnt a thread about how much I dislike what alcoholism does to people.
Well whatever your opinion is, [angry] alcoholics are not people you do not want to be around.

I can't stand most alcoholics, most aren't very pleasant people. Many are always angry at you for no reason, and always angry and something. Some yell and start a fight over nothing, they are very unaware because they are so drunk. Also, I dont care who the alcoholic is and how much respect they think they deserve, I cannot respect an alcoholic who takes their anger out on me. I do not appreciate being yelled and feeling like shit.

Oh and alcoholics who think weed is "a horrible drug" are the worst. They'll be sipping on their poison (alcohol) and go on about how horrible drugs are and how weed is screwing up peoples lives. Oh, but alcohol is okay and its totally fine how they get so fucked up they cant even walk straight and they end up passing out.

Dont get me wrong, I have no problem with alcohol in moderation, but if you've ever known a raging alcoholic, you will know why I dislike most alcoholics.

This is just my opinion about alcoholics.
I know there are many friendly, calm, and functioning alcoholics in this world.
I do not hate alcoholics, I hate what alcohol does to people.

Post your experiences you have had with alcoholics.

  2. +rep, agreed with everything you said.

hahaha don't forget your sun glasses:cool: and i chose no- live and let live ( no exceptions )

  4. I'm recovering.

My friends said that I was fun to be around when I was doing my really heavy binges. I didn't start fights or unnecessarily ruin relationships.

  5. I'm glad you are recovering. I wish you all the best. :)

The older ones with families seem to be the ones who are generally more angry and take their drunken anger out on their families. Everyone I've known with an alcoholic in their immediate family has had this anger taken out on them.

On the other hand, the people who "party too much" seem like they are fine to be around for the most part. Though I am personally not a big fan of drunk people.

  6. well just last night my sister slipped beer all over the keyboard, still works, but yeah, wtf

Nahh but my mom? horrible drunk,so annoying, always wants to talk to me when she's drunk about pointless shit, and she's one of those drunks that cry over everything..mostly over shit from the past..and it's like walking on egg shell when i'm around her cuz if i say or do one wrong thing,SHE FLIPS THE FUCK OUT! but it starts off slow..she just sits there and boils in her own thoughts till she Explodes like a volcano..can't w8 till i can get a job, save up,and move out :bongin:

  7. Some alcoholics are productive people who just have a problem. It is a disease, considering how common it is genetically to.

Kinda bad to hate on a whole group of people because you know a few fuck ups to:devious:

  8. I hate walking around on eggshells around drunk people.
I know exactly how you feel. :(

I stated that I know alcoholism is a disease, and its a horrible disease indeed.
Im not hating on alcoholics per se, but how many act when they are drunk.

  9. youre making generalizations

    word to the hockeyman

  10. My dad was a Alcoholic. Ruff time at home. He is better now amd life is 9000000000000 times better.

  11. Its not an opinion. It is not a disease. What you should say is 'if you prefer lying to yourself and living in a fantasy world where you are not at fault, thats fine.'

  12. i think everyone knows a raging alcoholic but to say things like alcoholics are terrible people is just dumb. there are lots of alcoholics who are productive people who go about their days and get things done and nobody ever knows they have been drinking unless they get close enough to smell the liquor on their breath.

it's kinda like saying potheads are all stupid and lazy people who do nothing but sit around the couch and laugh at cartoons.

  13. Fortunately, I've never lived with or been involved with any alcoholics.

I plan to keep it that way. I don't drink, so heavy drinkers aren't usually attracted to me. I've parted ways with all of my heavy drinking friends because we have little in common. A lot of them are already alcoholics, and they're only in their mid-twenties. It's sad. Alcohol is poison and it's a scourge on this planet. Very few people can moderate their alcohol use because it just gets out of hand so easily. It's just a sad way to go about life. The goes for all damaging drugs and destructive behavior.

I'm not defending alcoholism, I think it's a very serious problem, but there are alchoholics who are "happy drunks", and really don't do any harm to anybody besides themselves.

I don't know if the theory of "dry drunk" is true, but it seems like some alcoholics who quit remain fucked up even long after their last drink. G.W. Bush has been referred to as a dry drunk.

  15. My Mom's sperm donor is an alcoholic. He makes everybody so damn miserable with his drinking, and he's been doing it for decades.
I pretty much blame him for my shitty life and mind.
    This "beverage" is legal how??

  16. I was a serious alcoholic for a little while, from when I woke up to when I.. passed out, I suppose. I hated myself for that.

My dad was one for a long time, and I hated him for that.

I hate alcoholics that make other people suffer because of it.

I do wish people the best in beating it, I had more trouble with alcohol addiction than I did with pills, cigarettes and some hard drug addictions.

  17. You still blame other people for your problems?

  18. yeah there are people who can and can't handle their alcohol, but it's so easy to get to that point of not handling it,and anyone can get to that point...fast,usually throwing up stops people before doing something too stupid.

idk..alcohol just seems like a primitive drink, like i can see why people drank it back in the day when their water was tainted with feces, but now a days, it's just associated with having a good time..barfing and feeling like shit from drinking a poisonous depressant doesn't sound like a good time to me..anymore  rather smoke a bowl :bongin::D

  19. Yes I probably should have said that. I didnt exactly word things the best.

I dont think alcoholics are bad people. Alcoholism has taken over them and its a horrible thing to see. Alcoholics aren't bad people. Alcoholism on the other hand is what I hate. Perhaps I should have said, "I hate what alcoholism does to most people."

I do know that there are many productive alcoholics, and how I worded my post made it seem I was generalizing.
