First up, this is my first thread so hi to all. I've been following the harvesting boards for a few weeks waiting for my first crop to be ready. I noticed tonight I have some mould in the middle of my biggest cola. I chopped the branch off straight away. cut the mold out and have hung up the branch to dry. I only have 3 plants and i'm within a week off cropping, was gonna start flushing them this weekend. Should I cut them all now and forget the flush or will they make it another week?
Let them go but keep a close eye on em. You might get lucky. If there's more moldy bud you can always make qwiso.
You can also freeze cure to get rid of the mold. I had success with this last year because my humidity was too high (like me) and I got mold in two of my tops. Got rid of the mold and I didn't even have to cut it any off...
How long in freezer? and your talking after or before dry? Anyone who has experience and knows, please do answer! i'm sure many would want to know eh? -BH
Here's my method... Need a sunny day and either fresh bud right off the plant or drying bud. I cut the cola up into the smallest nugs I can (maybe an inch in diameter) and put them in an airtight GLASS jar. Put the lid on and throw it in the freezer for about an hour. After an hour, take it out and put it in direct hot sun. You will see steam rise up out of the jar for about 3-5 min. After one round in the freezer, take a look and see if you can see any mold still (if you can see it, rub it with a cotton swab and the mold strings should stick to the cotton swab. Put it back in the jar, and repeat until the bud is dry, and all the mold is gone. Of course if it is not sunny where you are, you can always use an over at the lowest setting possible and watch very carefully. Never let the jar get hot in the sun/oven. Just leave it long enough for the steam to stop. If you let it get hot it will ruin your bud completely. Hopefully this helps. If you have any questions on the method or if I missed something just say so. I'm pretty highsefohebnksljbbfkss right now.
I'm already saving leaves and stuff to make a bit of hash, so at least it'll be useful for something.
