Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by thizzle, Jan 13, 2010.

  1. i built a 10 by 10 stoeage shed in my back yard look slike this[IMG]
i got it sealed good so nothing gets in there. now that i have that done im just thinking of how i should go about setting it up.
    im open to any ideas.

i was thinking of doing hydro but i havent done it before just dirt. i only have around 1000 to spend on it

  2. i know my first post was vague but i wasnt even done building it. heres what i have done so far.

i have a shed is 10 by 9 1/2 i have built a seprate area in there that is 6 by 4 for cloning and veg so i have an area 9 1/2 by 6 for flowering and a 4 by 4 space next to he cloning area for the final bloomers which ill be doing wick style

so what i want to know is how many plants do u think i should have in there?

what would be the easiest way to do this im thinking ebb and flow

what kinds of fans and how many lights am i going to need?its about 7ft tall

    how much

  3. get (2) 600's for your flowering (unless its 4x4? is that what u mean by final bloomers? 4x4 would be perfect for 1 1000k) and get a 8 bulb 5t, 4 ft in lenght, for your veg area and clone area....

    thatd what id do.

  4. i meant the ones i want to stop giving nutrients to i want to do a perpetual grow so there will always be plants in all areas

how big of a fan do i need and do i need to run in through both areas?

  5. ah.... okay, i gotcha...... yah... okay, gotcha gotcha..... okay!!! (2) 600's for your 9 1/2 by 6 ft flowering space, t5 8 bulb 4ft long for your veg, and (1) 600 for your 4x4 final bloom area....

you need fans in ALL stages of growth, in all AREAS of your room.... get ATLEAST 1 boxfan for each room, atleast, bare minumum.... more is always better, remember thats the bare minimum, not exactly what fits your needs....

ive got a 12x5 room, and i have (4) box fans in there, with 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans going too.... a lil overkill, but i get some AIRFLOW.... (im probaly gunna end up going with just 1 intake and 1 exhaust, and switch the other fans to a diff flowering room here soon tho)

so idk, i use 6 fans in a 12x5 area.... so you do the math for yourself. 4 box, 1 intake, 1 outtake.

  6. on second thought, maybe you should start with the 1000's...... 3 600's and a t5 system is gunna run you atleast 500-750 dollars.... probaly more in the 600-700 range.... that doesn't leave you a whole lotta loot left for building your ebb and flow and getting fans and the such....

idk, price it out good, but id suggest if you can 3 600's and the t5...

  7. anybody know of any good guides to wiring a room with outlets and shuch from my house electricity?

  9. Uh Beavis that's not going to be easy. We would need to see your current panel. If was me. I would run a sub panel to the room.

FYI Scratch the 600 idea. It's a cool way to go but not cost effective with your budget. That should be a fun debate.

    Lumatek 600 170-200.00
Hood 80- 185.00 I run the "ocho" xxxl magnum
    Buld 89.00

    You should run 3 600's over a 4x8 tray. That's 1000 dollars right there.

I have set up many rooms for customers with T-5's for veg and a couple 1000k for flower. If you want to be cool and save money; cool meaning literally cool. Get 2 digital 1000's and run them on a flip/flop. 2 ballast and 4 lights. Should equate to 4 pounds every month. :hello: You can build a flip flop circuit pretty cheap. The ballast never turn off. 12 hours in one room then flips to 12 hours in second room. How big was the space again. If you want to get really nuts build stadium. As soon as your clones have roots pop into flower. 6x6 area you could have a couple of hundred plants on a single 1000 with no hood. Save your money for the A/C. Window unit would do the trick. Pump CO2, carbon scrubber and you should have enough bud for you and the rest of the block. Look up vertical grow. I think the record was 6lbs from one light. If I remember correctly it was 600 tiny plants. I have dreamed of trying it but I don't think that would fall under CA law. 5 years mandatory just isn't appealing either. I can help you design it. :)
Let me know if I can help with anything else. If you are looking to buy anything I get crazy prices on new equipment. 10% over cost. I buy such volume from a local store. He knows I could just open my own retail. So he just cuts me a brake.

BTW you will need a min. of 55 amps for what you described and dont forget to insulate.

I hope that helps. Shoot me a PM if you need anything other advice.

  10. i might be fucked i finally found the box in the closet and theres no breakers just fuses
and it is insulated and i put up sheet rock

  11. REMEMBER: Will your neighbors be able to see you going to this shed as often as you will need to in order to grow? Unless you have a really nice fence up so that no one can see you or if you don't have neighbors that can see your backyard, I wouldn't grow in that shed..

  12. Get an electrician. Might be able to pull from the top of the panel. Or just do a panel change out. Typically around 900-1400.00 dollars. Better now then later.

  13. Um yeah, you'll need your shed fully wired for electricity. With just a thousand to spend I don't know how you can buy lights, ventilation system for CO2, air conditioning, odor control, etc. That shed would be good for a few bicycles and a lawnmower though.

  14. i hired an electrician and had the room wired up now im thinkink about what setup would be best for the space so my question is what tchnique would get me the most tree out of this space out of just putting in a couple tables and do ebb and flow, do a stadium grow but i dont know about that because would supplies be alot to grow so many plants but i need more info about stadium, or scrog

my main question is how much can i get out of a 10x10 room, using a couple 1000w hps and with a 6x4 room cut out for veg, using the methods above

  15. thizzle, can any of your neighbors see your backyard?

  16. AC, lights, water system(RO), and a drain.

  17. only one but i put a tarp up on the fence but theyve been our neighbors for like 10 years so i doubt ill have any problems with them

im not retarded i know the risks and have thought it all out thers a little room as soon as you walk in made out of plastic so even if the door is open no one can see whats inside

  18. get 2 of the ocho xxxl hoods, 600w bulbs, ballest etc, 3 2x4 and set up pepetual SOG,

pays for it's self in 1 harvest if done correctly...thats me though....
