So I was going into Nordstrom's to do some shopping when a homeless gentleman asked me for some change for food. He seemed of sound e nough mind so I told him to follow me. I took him to the men's section and told him to try on a suit that he likes. He tried on a few and then found the one he wanted. So I bought it for him and took him to the food court, ordered him chinese food that he wanted, wished him luck. I told him he needs to use this opportunity to turn his life around and find a job. I then gave him a few bucks for a later meal or whatever. I probably wouldn't have helped him like that but I saw myself in him and was in a giving mood.
Hopefully he will use the opportunity to turn his life around, or he might just return the suit and go buy booze. Who knows.
Yeah man I've had way too many bad experiences with giving homeless people thing and them not actually appreciating it. I was picking up take-out at a Chinese restaurant one day and when I was leaving this homeless guy chilling outside asked me if I had any change(so he could go across the street to Subway for a sandwich). On my way out I gave him my take-out container filled with eggrolls. He didn't say thank you, looked at the food disgusted and when he thought I was out of eye sight(I had just turned my back), tossed them in the trash and continued shaking his change cup. Never again. Id rather give money to animal charities then waste it
For having absolutely nothing, homeless people are very unappreciative sometimes...I gave this one homeless guy who stands by my house a dollar once and now every time I come back from class he is heckling me for more me...but I am just a poor college student haha
that was awesome really. I wish a lot more people would do something like that. you are a real good person.
I'll never give them money. Reporters have found people who aren't even homeless who dress up and go out begging because they can make way more money than they would having a minimum wage job. I know there were guys in New York who would sometimes make over $50 an hour. I've offered to buy them food before and most of them rudely declined.
Good Job but homeless people mostly homeless because they want to be then they steal, get high and penny handle.
TRUE homeless people, are appreciative as hell. I know that, because I chill with homeless people sometimes I hangout with a wide range of people, from friends that are more than well-off, to people that I know will be sleeping under a bridge that night. And no, they're not homeless because they want to be. The ones that seem unappreciative, aren't really homeless. They usually have some sort of means, an apartment, or a garage or something. Begging for change is just a simple way to make money If you got any questions, let me know
