I was raised Catholic, so I may be a little biased, but I can't seem to figure how everything came from nothing, if that is the case. Where did the earth come from, where did the universe come from?? Nothing comes from nothing. If there was nothing to create bacteria to evolve into some kind of dinosaur/person, then NOTHING WOULD EVER HAPPEN. Where did the comets in space come from?? God had to have created it, how can a comet just appear somewhere out of nowhere. NOTHING COMES FROM NOTHING unless some sort of higher power could have created it.
not necessarily, everything we could think is real and actual matter may not be we could no have any idea what the universe really is.
i've been thinking about this alot too but it's no use, i always end up getting in arguments with people or just plain fuckin' confused. i wish there was proof towards something but it's really kind of impossible to find out.
Well, how could stars just form out of nothing? If there is no cause, there is no effect. End of argument if there is one.
And where does the higher power come from??????????????????????? Please read some of the other posts on this issue...they explain a lot...but here's a short thought: Believing everything existed forever and believing in a higher power (which created the universe) that has existed forever isn't too different. Both are expressions of our unability to grasp the concept of eternity.
I hate thinking of this shit. It makes my head hurt, I'm going to go smoke a joint and relieve my headache. Also, if I am wrong about some sort of higher power and afterlife, wouldn't it suck to just be dead, an endless, dreamless sleep for all eternity, AHHHHHHH, I NEVER WANT TO DIE!! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ What is the point of life if that is the case?? Why should people work hard and then die of some accident to have done all that work for nothing! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like skinner said, You believe that "God always was, and will be" Other people believe "The universe always was, and will be" it's just a different faith.
first, you have to try, just for a little while, to get out of the creationist mindset to be able to understand your dilemas. your dilemas are created themselves by this assumption that such things are created, as you say, from nothing. science class, standard grade. you cannot make nor destroy energy. all matter is made of energy. Earth. Earth was formed, as i asume all planets are, by the natural process of the universe and the energy/matter that exists. gravity pulls matter together to form bigger and bigger clumps of stuff, et viola... an earth shaped lump of matter. Stars. Stars were made from the remenants of previous stars after they popped. those previous stars we're made of yet even bigger stars before then and go back far enough we get to the big hot soup after the big bang. so you see... stars and plannets are the same thing in a sence, just the plannets are made from later star stuff, more complex molecules and of course, they're smaller and do not have nuclear fission occuring. universe. ooh, tricky one. trying to decifer where it came from when we dont yet even know what it is, or how far the definition extends. some have tried to redefine the term "universe" to mean EVERYTHING after theories attempting to explain the unexplained uncertainties of big bang theory have brought up possabliities of more than one universe. string theory goes further as to attempt to be a grand unified theory of everything ... and suprisingly doesnt seem to compete with many of the multi-verse theories, infact it predicts the same! so where did our universe come from? according to string/m theory... branes colide. i'll let you follow that one up for yourself. commets. there are two main asteroid belts in our solarsystem. one on the inside, before you get to the gas giants, and one further out (i dont recall how far out). the one farther out contains many asteroids made largely of ice. due to the chaos of things being hurled around and crashing into each other, sometimes some of these get knocked out of their orbits... many of these will get pulled into one of the gas giants, but some may just slip past the gravity well shallow enough to be propelled out at great speed, and should it get too close to the sun the ice will begin to melt and the asteroid will decay, leaving a trail, thus becoming a commet. process explained simply, no hand of "god" imediately involved. life. now i see three options to present to you. 1. life was started, by a process of chance and having all the right variables just so, that allowed the comonly forming biological basics (sugar, alcohol, amino acids, protiens etc) to form into yet even more complex forms, some were self replicating, and so of course, they replicated and replicated, those who werent self replicating simply didnt. 2. there was no spark of life present on the planet, life was brought from other bodies that colided with earth. 2 1/2. life was intentionally brought to life to ensure the survival of life by a "higher being"/alien. i.e. we were "created" by i higher being that stands not as God almighty, but only as our creator, standing between us and god. 3. god did it. just because you do not understand something is not sufficient reason alone to cry "GOD!" i dont remember ever hearing of the bible teaching not to learn. go learn. don't sell yourself short with the obvious explanation "god did it", go figure out how gid did it. the universe did it.
here are my thoughts on the subject..... No matter if you believe in a god or not somewhere along the line someone had to come from nothing and everything..... the real thinking comes after you get past that and realize that if there was a god and he created this whole world why the hell would he sit and watch us enjoy all it. he would be here living his life. he would be trying save us or guide us or cure us...thats our job.. IF YOU LOVE SOMETHING SET IT FREE!!!!!!!
You wouldn't notice, so you couldn't care less after yuo're dead As for life now...I try to enjoy it. Make sure I don't look too far into the future. As Yoda said...clouded the future is...always in motion (or summin like that haha), so you wouldn't know where you're at in 10 years, belive me... Stop and smell the roses...it's worth it
i was born and raised catholic as well, and while i don't belive god created earth in the whole "adam and eve" way, i belive a 'higer power' did play a part. let me explain. the current earth is 4.5billion years old. i believe 'god' somehow started a catalyst for the universes process to begin. 5% of the universe is capable of sustaining human life, so i believe that higher power put the right elements together for the 'big bang' to occur, and then over billions of years atoms evolved to elements, bacteria evolved to animals, to humans, etc. now the thing that really tickles my mind is, the sun is suposed to burn out in 500million years or something like that, and eventually, our universe is going to cease to exist, permanently. now what interests me about this is, it is highly possible that our universe isn't the first universe to have existed. after this universe ends and there is nothingness again, a whole new universe could form over 4.5billion years. there could have been an egyptian race in a previous universe as well, and the universe (earth) we live in now.. this is something i would really like to learn about, because nobody really knows how long "life as we know it" (multiple universes) has actually existed for.. egypt is a whole nother topic for me that i am going to start a thread on someday... pyramids, obelisks, all that shit, impossible to fathom how they built them.. modern day technology can't even figure out how to build a pyramid like they had at giza.. some say aliens came down and taught them how to build them, and told them to leave no records of how they were built. wouldn't that be something.
And where does the higher power come from??????????????????????? Both are expressions of our unability to grasp the concept of eternity.
Alright, I'm going to give my thoughts on this perplexing issue. Um... First of all I believe that of course God has created the universe as our minds preceive it. I think that dwelling on who created whatever first is a waste of valueable productive time, and is unfathomable. """"First, you have to try, just for a little while, to get out of the creationist mindset to be able to understand your dilemas. your dilemas are created themselves by this assumption that such things are created, as you say, from nothing. science class, standard grade. you cannot make nor destroy energy. all matter is made of energy."""" Digit is more of a science guy or a analytical "counter" and probably doesn't believe in any type of being. I believe in science obviously, and I really admire it along with technology AND also believe that energies are perpetuated from everything and are the main inflence in how we work and play and what decisions we make unless, your have a mad scientist type of mentality. I also believe that the spirt is what governs all of this through manifesting energies amoung what we precieve, touch, taste, details, etc. such as: plants, the sun, etc. and this is what allows a generation to change not evolve. Also, once something is "created" it is recreated. Of course there is a difference between physiological energies and spiritual energies, BUT ,here we go, they have a correlation, I believe. Peace.
I dont know too much how the universe was created but i believe there is a higher power. I dont have much proof, but i have enough. My dad was in a severe car wreck where a girl crossed over the center line and hit him head on, killing her instently and they told us at the hospital my dad was probably not going to make it. Well here we are, 20 months later, he still has a few sugeries to go, but he can drive, he goes hunting and fishing, and is well on his way to recovery. I think his faith has helped him, so i have to believe there is a higher being.
In my opinion that's why man has created god...to take the easy way out...we can't know how it started, so we assume someone started it...we'll call him god...since dwelling on how earth and the universe came to life is unfathomable..
Man, I don't know what to tell you... Haaaa well, I don't want to get into an argument. All, I have to say is man didn't create God. If we did we wouldn't have trees or phenomenon of statues in the Holy land of Mejigora (spelling) with tears falling down their cheeks with no know answer of how these tears had come to pass. THIS ISN'T A LIE, IT IS ABSOLUTE TRUTH! And it wasn't condensation. Teams of Researching scientists couldn't understand where these tears were coming from... That episode was long ago and it had about 8 other myricals that couldn't be explained by ANYONE. Scientists have even admitted to the existence of a higher being. If the devil is deluding or shadowing your mind I have nothing else to say. Be your own man. Just know that death is enivitable and I have almost been THERE 2 TIMES, SO DON'T TELL ME! Live as you wish. PEACE!!!
Haha...dude...I didn't mean to offend you... I know about the statue belive me...I grew up with a strict, catholic father...my sister's a priest...I don't think we could get into an argument I haven't had before... Yes, there are things science cannot explain...but blaming it on a god, especially a christian one like defined in the bible seems just as unlikely like to me as a virgin birth induced by god...
the way i see it.. noone knows if there is a higher power of not. religion is just a theory.. it hasn't been proven yet and science is also a theory, because of the fact that we don't know where life comes/came from so therfore if there is a higher power, that would make science obsolete. science can only define physical laws like gravity. were still searching for the truth about the world... ever since we were put on it in the old days it was all about religion.. but then religion wasn't answering anyones questions so then we tried to define the world/universe through science and math, and still no one has found the answers.. and thats why were still searching.
You know, I have met many people and some people even with the absolute, most concrete and unbreakable concrete still think that there is no God. EVEN WITH PROOF!..................................................... So, you know like the bible says, "Many are called few are chosen." Why don't they see PROOF? My insight has seen these correlations amoung spiritual energys among people on the street and such (that's why I said it, I speak from my human mouth what I believe) and there is no way I can't convey them to you. You have to see them for yourself...... through devine intervention as a connection to the most high. As, for a virgin.... a virgin to me is one untainted by the hands of possible human domination and ownership, a woman of purety, free from submission to another's procreative ideals.... You know? Corruption... Her pussy hasn't been completly OPENED UP for another to mar her and the memories & feeling & emotions that go along with it. Thinking.... your father was probably was a dictator, right???? RIGHTEOUS!!! RIGHT? WELL, in the Bible it says something like let no righteous man, Oh I don't know..... A righteous man can be warped because of fallibility.... Anyone is seceptible to negative energies, they are human beings..... weakness and imperfection is mortally inherent. I BELIEVE THERE IS NO RIGHT AND WRONG IT IS HOW A PERSON PERCIEVES IT THOUGHOUT AN ENVIRONMENT....A LIFE OF VIVACIOUS LIVING..........OF AN INDIVIDUAL......An individual........ Of no one like you, you are the epiphony of a special creation as an individual creates his environment and how he sees it. How he sees it! No one sees his life as you do. I know from seeing others. And their is no way anyone can change you but yourself. Some may connect and reach you.......(by empathy) to POSSIBLY change your thoughts, but it is up to you.....FREE WILL OF MEN. You choose. You are free... you are incontrol.... of your own body, mind, and spirit. Why would God create you from a image and likeness of himself... unless he wants you to be you? I used to be an atheist. I was sceptical and stupid really, but I have a better life now. I can't explain what I see. Peace.
Yes, religion is a theory, IT IS ALL A THEORY, but myricals have been proven. That's why you have to see it for yourself, no man's words can tell you otherwise. Think about it. I have nothing else to say. You just have to be blessed with his spirit and it will allow you to see objectively that he is there. I see it, but I can't express it, sorry. Hopefully, he will inspire you....... Also, I was very sceptical, but I saw it so.... you have to be called... by the direct manifestation of your path in life, you just haven't reached it, but you will, if you wish it (calling). Seek and you shall find. You will find it if you allow yourself to be connected to the bridging into it. Trust me.....I know more then I ever have and it is wonderous. Peace.
