We spend so much time in life wasting our life. We spend so much time doing things we don't want to be doing. As a living breathing human being we have won the greatest lottery of all, the lottery of life. So many sperm, and me, my little tadpool won. Human beings are just animals. We're just a miracle enigma. It just so happens that we have evolved into the peak of life. At this point we are the absolute crescendo of what can happen when life is born. Everything is so good. Nothing means anything. We'll die and it will end for us but will continue for everything and everyone else. That is until, that one 500 BILLION star that we call the sun burns out. Then we will all die. Hopefully somewhere else out there in this epic universe there are other life forms creating something similar to what we have. Odds are it will be different though. They are probably born out of very different living situations. The earth is basically the most beautiful thing we have ever found through exploration of space. It has life all over it. It's a miracle. If you think about it, alls we are is animals. Thats all. We are elite animals though. Human Beings are the ultimate and final example of brains over brawn because physically we frail in comparison to basically every other animal on this planet. Even ants, relatively speaking, are far stronger. We are just incredibly smart (and yet stupid and ignorant at the same time) organisms inhabiting an earth with other organisms we can eat to survive. This game of life we play is only an attempt to create a meaning for our life. We're here right? So might as well do something. God's and religions are all creations of the human mind. People are afraid of the Truth, so their mind fools them into believe things are there that are not. The human mind is a powerful thing. By far the most powerful creation in the universe that we know about. It is truely a marvel. We are so lucky to be alive right now. Living, breathing, EXPERIENCING the ultimate. Why let some other person's narrow minded exploits effect the beauty that is you. The beauty that is me. The beauty that is life? Buddha described enlightenment as "Blowing out the Candle" because he was sick of religions referring to their religion in positive terms. This fascinates me, but at the same time I love it. Because it makes so much sense. But nobody seems to understand. We are the peak. We are the mountain. We are the Flower of life.
Its not your life. It might look like there wasting it to you, but they could be having the time of there life. Shit if you could only imagine how good I feel after doing a little of my drug of choice .. and im sitting in my room. "wasting" my life. ahaha
i think that nothing you do while living is a waste of time, because you are learning from it, even if you are doing your drug of choice or doing nothing at all.
Great post. One that grasps this meaning of existence can really come to appreciate the life they live rather than dwell on the small things. We are alive. This is the best thing that we could ever possibly hope for and not one problem should ever set us back.
But, as far as i'm concerned, it's the small things that make life great, and it's supported by what I see, how I've been able to make someone's day just by smiling at them, flirting with the ugly girl behind the checkout counter at the grocery store, telling a tired mother of 4 at the mall that she has pretty eyes, or just picking up the 10 dollar bill the guy in front of you at mcdonald's dropped and handing it back to him. All these things make someone's day, so they cannot be unimportant. When you lose a loved one, what do you love to remember? Is it the big things you did, or the every day little bullshit? I know with everyone I've lost, it's the little things I remember. I can't tell you what my grandmother on my mom's side even looked like, but i do remember the way she would caress my head and tell me she loved me as she was tucking me in whenever she'd come visit. Nothing earth-shattering, just everyday shit, but that's what matters. I catch your meaning about don't sweat the small stuff, as in don't let petty shit get you down, but the flipside of that coin is even more important. Cherish the small things. The small things are the best way you can possibly pay it forward, and they make a huge difference. Open the door for an old lady and smile at her as she shuffles through the door. Tell the lady in the burger king drivethrough that her earrings bring out her eyes. It's the little things that make up your life. Don't overlook them.
True man I love society but HATE IT!! Like school and shit and all the cliques and drama. I'm just like fuck it I'm a fucking stoner and I love to smoke marijuana and I love to snort coke. I can't help it. But for some reason I can maintain a decent life with education, family, job, girlfriend etc. Which is awesome because I didn't let my habits ruin my life besides wasting my money on the cigarettes which is the biggest ignorant habit out there. All well I love smoking cigarettes and they make me really happy so. One thing that pisses me off about capitalistic society is money. I love money but I hate having to see my friends live a broke poor life or join the military because they didn't go to college or whatever. Whatever it works better than communism right? Life's a bitch, then you die.
@stickyone: I was mainly thinking along the lines of: don't let the small things get you down. Too many people are worried about small, negative things. These things amount to so much that they seem overpowering to many people. People need to know that the best thing in the end, is not being high in the opinions of others, but rather the fact that they are able to live their life the way they see fit. In the end, we do all die, and no one else will change that outcome. Take advantage of the years you have, and let your ideas and actions define who you are, not anyone else's. Make life beautiful and don't let anyone say otherwise. @livingalife: But in the end, life's not a bitch. One man can curse the world he lives in, another can love every part of it. One thing you begin to realize through all this (psychedelic/spiritual experiences really begin to open this up) is that all that matters is your outlook on life. Cliques, drama, it's sad that people waste their life following such shit. But in the end, it's not your place to change this. All you can control in life is yourself, and you should follow a life of your own, held back by no one. Drugs show something more in life, because it's a universal feeling. They take us to a world that isn't held back by opinions of others or the guidelines of society, the poor farmer and the rich musician experience and love it one and the same. At the same time, be in control of your actions. Drugs do nothing more than change the chemical flow in your brain, don't get attached to them. If you enjoy it, than do it, but if something comes up, be able to stop at any time.
if you dont hate, you miss another valuable part of life why spend time with things that dont make you happy?
I totally agree! I watch these people spend hours of their lives praying at church and I laugh. You basicly summed up why I hate religion.
Tao: In Taoism, the basic, eternal principle of the universe that transcends reality and is the source of being, non-being, and change. "Good heavens, the ammount of debates, battles, bloodshed, and torture over the question of whether God does or does not exist! It has seemed to be even more than a life and death issue. At all costs, the christian must convince the heathen and the atheist that God exists, in order to save his soul. At all costs, the atheist must convince the Christian that the belief in God is but a primitive superstition, doing enormous harm to the cause of true social progress. And so they battle, and storm, and bang away at each other. Meanwhile, the Taoist sage sits quietly by the stream, perhaps with a book of poems, a cup of wine, and some painting materials, enjoying the Tao to his hearts content, without ever worrying whether or not the tao exists. The sage has no need to affirm the Tao, he is far too busy enjoying it."
I suggest you guys all watch Click.... I know how lame that sounds, but it really is actually a pretty deep movie, with a fucking good ass message.
spoken like a true environmentalist... i like it; we think alike. you made some great points. I agree with pretty much 99% of the things you just said.
You see, I'm at a level that not many have reached. No, I suppose I am not yet enlightened, and I don't know if I will ever be because my ego is way too large and too much a part of my daily life. However, I don't think the vast majority of people out there really realize the oppurtunity given to them. Like, we're alive, we're the peak, we ARE the eternal. I appreciate everyone's replies, and I understand (and did understand far before anyone posted a reply) that many people would not understand the message I was trying to get across. Thankfully it appears that StillSmokin had some idea of what I was trying to say. Life is good.
