I dare you to post the true reason you reject Christianity

  1. The Bible doesn't even describe Hell in that manner.
The fire, torture, and brimstone was church imagery in order to scare people.

  2. Cause “There ain’t no hate quite like Christian love”.

  3. My understanding is based on Revelation, which basically says that, if you’re on JC’s list, you go to Heaven, but if not, you just…die. So yeah, hell is a combination of fearmongering and misreading the Bible. And so many things in the Bible - usually concerning a hot-button issue of the day - are misconstrued or badly translated. For one, the word “arsenokoites” - a Greek word - appears in the original writings and has come down to us as “man who has set with men.” Which is not at all what it was - it was much more “man who has sex with boys,” as in “boys who are probably way the hell too young for a sexual relationship with a grown-ass man.” Both Moses and Paul used this word, and while Paul was widely regarded as the Bible’s version of the “get off my lawn” guy, I doubt he got any more worked up about two dudes doing it than a straight couple or whatever the hell else.

Paul is also the guy who seems to be the “no sex before marriage” sign-holder. I’m aware of no one else in the Bible who gave a damn about premarital sex. Jesus said to stay away from “porneia,” but that word is so wide-open to interpretation that, without proper context, it’s basically meaningless. All the other stuff he said to do - don’t eat a sacrificed or strangled animal, don’t consume animal blood, love God and your neighbor, spread the good news, be willing to live for Jesus as far as you must - is pretty straightforward. But his commandments on sex? Not so much. And given that Jesus was pretty judgment-free, the shame and guilt associated with the last 2,000 years of Christianity is something he would have flipped over pulpits and kicked priests in the nards for.

Strip away all the nonsense from Christianity and you have something wonderful. The faith has been poisoned in the last 2,000 years and needs a massive repair effort.

Also, Jesus was a master at teaching people how to treat others, but if you want to learn how to treat yourself, there are better teachers. I, for one, prefer the Buddha.

  8. As a Christian, I reject any belief structure that says that all other beliefs are wrong and it is the only true reality. That's bullshit. Humans are not wired to understand the true nature of reality, so any claim of knowing that nature is false. So, in essence I believe knowing that there was is no possible way to know. Also, knowing that Christianity and every other religion is probably wrong. Who cares? Believe what you want to believe and respect other people's beliefs. Just don't be an asshole.

Also, I may be a heretic to other Christians Am I a Christian at all? Who knows. Don't care.

  9. The god that has 10 commandments he wants you to live by ? The one that will punish you in fire forever till your suffering blends in with the screaming?

    But he loves you

  10. With all the folk thru history, claiming to be Christians ,Muslims or whatever, like its all good, and then they go and kill people.
I'll never be like that, im a taoist .

  11. 1:25:50-1:26:30 this video best describes my feeling on it so if you want to watch more feel free but the main part I am pointing out explains that a compilation of books like the Bible first ask us to believe things that no one can believe. And that’s is basically a form of lie. When the whole thing is based on truth but starts with lies it makes it hard to believe.

  13. THOU SHALT NOT KILL. "Oh hey my Israelites, march on Jericho and kill every last man woman and child in the city in my name."

THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY. Uhhhh yeah. And how many Biblical characters had concubines?

And what kind of god watches as he lets a bunch of puny mortals torture and murder his only son so that said puny mortals no longer have to make sacrifices to god.
I mean what a psychopath. Look at the story of Job. God makes the poor guy's life a living hell for no other reason than to say, "See? I told you so" to Satan.

  16. Because I don't need it.

  17. I grew up in the church. After 16 years of going to church, checking out other sects and even looking at other religions, I realized it was all 100% bull.
It took a few more years to figure out that politics is religion and religion is politics. They both have their doctrines that must be adhered to and both are quite dogmatic. And both are designed to control the masses.

  18. Maybe you can help me - I’ve been looking for any proof whatsoever that god exists my whole life. Any thoughts?

  19. Because there's absolutely no evidence for the claims in the Bible.

I don't have a problem with the faith part of religion. I do have a problem with it being used to control people in mass. Religion (for the most part) today lacks any sense of cohesion and is just an extension of capitalism. It also puts your brain in a box, un-able to think about anything unless it's through the lenses/eyes of religion.

I'm proud of who I am and the history of my people. If you know anything about the Christian Crusades, you'd know what Scandinavians dealt with. From Wiki "The indigenous populations suffered forced baptisms and the ravages of military occupation". Countless Northern Europeans were slaughtered/raped for Christianity. They burned our books, burned our history, to replace it with their own. Now Christianity as a whole puts on a big smile and acts dumb. Never forget.

The equivalent of Ancient Chinese history, Ancient Greek history etc. Scandinavian/Northern European people lost their ancient history thanks to Christianity.
