  1. If you don't have like 200+ dollars to buy all these albums, and don't pirate music, I hope this thread can be your goto place to hear this amazing ish.
    :D
Okay so I found out about Ozric Tentacles sometime earlier this year. I've had many an eargasm after listening to their roughly 20 albums and watching their concert dvd. Through Last.fm I found a great handful of bands that also make amazing music in similar fashion. Some lump this music into the vast genre of "psychedelic", but I'm hearing "liquid space rock" tossed around a lot within these fan bases. Pretty good sub-genre name. So this is a tribute to these bands, that which I can not stop listening to. Will be sharing information about the Ozrics, Hidria Spacefolk, Quantum Fantay, Oresund Space Collective, and First Band from Outer Space, so grab your ganja, put on your headphones or crank the volume up... I'll have a brief bio of the bands from their Last.fm first, with youtube videos below.

By the way, they are all super groups. Amazing guitar work, groovin bass, rediculous drumming, and more (flute, etc)

    http://www.last.fm/music/Ozric+Tentacles

"A band from another time, Ozric Tentacles served as the bridge from '70s cosmic rock to the organic dance and festival culture which came back into fashion during the '90s"
" Ozric Tentacles ... are an instrumental band from Somerset, England, whose music can loosely be described as psychedelic. Formed in 1984, the band have released well over 20 albums as of 2005, and become a cottage industry selling around a million albums worldwide despite never having major label backing."
"The original line up met on June 21st, 1984, at the Stonehenge Free Festival and their name arose from discussions of hypothetical cereal brands. In the 1980s the band built a fan base on the festival circuit, becoming particularly associated with the Glastonbury Festival, and made a series of cassette releases, sold at gigs and via a fan club. Their first label release was Pungent Effulgent in 1989"

Original Members: guitarist Ed Wynne, drummer Nick Van Gelder, keyboard player Joie Hinton, bassist Roly Wynne and second guitarist Gavin Griffiths.
In 1987, Merv Pepler replaced Van Gelder, and synthesizer player Steve Everett was also added. Griffiths departed in '84.

As of 2007, the line up features Ed Wynne (guitar, keyboards), Vinny Shillito (bass), Ed's wife Brandi Wynne (keyboards) and Merv Pepler(drums, percussion).

  2. Hidria Spacefolk

"Hidria Spacefolk is a Finnish folk-influenced progressive / psychedelic rock band consisting of Kimmo Dammert (bass), Mikko Happo (guitars), Teemu Kilponen (drums), Janne Lounatvuori (keyboards), and Sami Wirkkala (guitars). The group's space rock sound is often compared to Kingston Wall and Ozric Tentacles. The band describes their music style as Astro-Beat. They use many different instruments such as cello, violin, flute, didgeridoo, marimba, mandolin, sitar and vibraphone."

'Hidria Spacefolk's first album was the independently released EP HDRSF-1 in 2001. Their debut full-length, Symbiosis, was released a year later through Silence, a sub-label of Wolfgang Records. The band's second full-length album, Balansia, was released in 2004 and included Andy McCoy of Hanoi Rocks as a guest musician. The same year also a compilation album titled Violently Hippy rmxs was released. The album contains remixes of Hidria Spacefolk's songs done by Finnish electronic music makers."

  4. Quantum Fantay

"Once upon a time in a small city called Lokeren (Belgium)… Two friends and ex-bandmembers of Oregon (Pieter Van den Broeck (Pete Mush) and Wouter De Geest (Jaro) were once again uniting their musical creativity to end up with a final result defined as liquid space rock.
Even people that have been in the music business for ages still wonder what that is. It can best be linked to the band ‘Ozric Tentacles'. The genre makes you higher than high without using any drugs, except for the music itself.

To make the band live breathable and even more interesting the two neighbours attracted Gino Verhaegen and Karel Slabbaert (Charles Sla)."

"Their name came out of a typing error in FANTASY."

  5. Øresund Space Collective

"The Øresund Space Collective was formed in April 2004. The collective is a group of Danish, Swedish and American musicians that get together as often as possible for free form improvised space rock music. The flavour of the music is different with each session. The jams can often combine complex interplay between guitar and synthesizer as well intense drumming and bass playing. We enter into the genre of funk, jazz, reggae and space rock as we improvise our way along. The jam sessions alternate between Malmö and København across the Øresund bridge! The core of the collective features current and former members of the Danish bands Mantric Muse and Gas Giant as well as the Swedish band Bland Bladen. Occasionally other musicians join as well from other Swedish band like the Carpet Knights and KAABEL."
