Hi, New here and fairly new to using Marijuana - The last time I used pot was about 30+ yrs ago, until I got a medical user card this past Dec.
I have a very painful spine injury and for the most part I live in a hospital bed in my home, with nurses and such coming in to care for me.
I have several questions/issues of which I will post separately..

This question is - why can't I get any effect from MJ the second time I use it in a day? I can take the same amount of the same kind with the same conditions (ie. empty stomach, relaxing in bed etc) and I either get nothing (that is more often then not) or I get a little effect but not much.

I have also tried using 1 kind in AM and another kind later in the day and same results. I have tried mixing it up every which way...
I usually take a dose of my pain meds (Oxy) with my AM dose of MJ but I have tried repeating that in the afternoon - nothing or next to nothing.
I've tried not taking any of my other meds in-between using MJ (nothing I am on should make a difference but I still tried this) nothing is any different..
It doesn't matter if I take pills or vap or use a tincture. Doesn't matter if I use the same type or use 1 type in AM and a different type in afternoon/early evening.
Doubt it matters but just in case I am 57 yrs old.

Any idea why or what to do?

  2. If you're eating edibles you need to eat food with it

  3. I don't know why or any way around it. It works like that for me, too. I've been smoking a long time and it's always been like that. The first high is it for the day.

  4. Beth I have sort of the same problem, if I smoke the same strain (and not sure if just me I never asked) but I find the strain stops being as strong as in the beginning when I 1st smoked it. What I do is rotate my weed types(strains) and keep like 5 different types (strains) for when I feel myself not getting high, at this time I get another jar out and use that blend for a week or so,
Try mixing it up and see if it helps you too.
    Good Luck

  11. These guys are probably the experts compared to me... But some gummies have really helped w/ my pain constant back pain as well as my arthritis in my ankle and my shoulder.

When I've been lucky enough to get certain gummies (can't remember all the brands/names), some honestly scared me as they were the 30mg at first (before the law changed to 10mg)... It honestly felt like I was on something "else", it certainly cured the pain but knocked me out as I nodded off... I loved the gummies at first but they were just too strong for me. Whenever I seem to find the ones I really enjoy the supply runs out rather fast, and it seems like I have to try something new again. But where I am, it's sort of get what you can get... god forbid something everyone likes comes around it's gone within 1-2 weeks.

I've always noticed eating even as little as some crackers or chips, just getting food in the belly helps so much... hope you feel better :)

  12. I have not tried gummies but I have read a few articles that said some people do get better pain control from them, then other sources. So maybe I should consider them.
Eating food right after a gummy is what your saying or after any type of MJ ? Thank you for trying to help me out. I appreciate it :)

  13. Yes, or even before... Usually at your own pace.

Generally the gummies take 30min or so to kick-in, sometimes sooner or later depends on whom. I generally cut myself off after 20mg or 30mg of the gummies I like, maybe make a peanut butter and jelly or just grab a box of crackers... always seems to "kick-start" things, could all be in my mind.. You'll eventually get even more hungry with most.. which is why I like crackers and small things, just enough to curb the "munchies" so that I don't overeat.. otherwise I wake up the next morning with that Thanksgiving Day hangover feeling.

I've tried chocolates, some were very similar, some were incredibly intense. I honestly don't like all the sugar and one thing about gummies I noticed is I always notice there is Lactic Acid in them... which is not good if you are not a very active person... in my case I am a little overweight and need to control myself. There were a few times where I overate gummies, maybe for a few evenings in a row.. and I swear I could feel it negatively in my ankle and shoulder where I have very bad arthritis.

I try and save my gummies for the weekends or times I'm really in pain now, they are certainly relaxing and help.. but I'm utterly useless and will be on the couch or in bed binge watching something.
