I built a trimming machine and it works

  1. Two 24" wood wheels wrapped like a drum with 1/2" hardware cloth, suspended over a tub, with a hand crank. Simple as that. Trims like a pound at a time... I will never trim again. 20201101_210203.jpg Cheers!

  5. Dry trimming. 20201101_211702.jpg Just leaves a stick here and there to clean up, if you're picky about bag appeal like me.

  7. Is it the tumbling that knocks the dry leaves off?

  8. Yeah, they tumble against one another and against the hardware cloth. You can trim tighter or more loosely by just turning the crank for a few more minutes or not.

  9. I do cut the big fan leaves off before I hang the branches to dry though. Would probably have more sticks without that step

  10. This is still my DIY favorite

    or maybe this ...lol

  11. Lol. "Point is, it fuckin' works."

Would take forever to wet trim 12 big trees like that though...

  13. Very nice, man! Very nice!
It's certainly better than sticky fingers and scissors! And those stems can be broke off quickly by hand if you want.
LSD is easily the stickiest weed I've ever grown, bar none. Literally like half set crazy glue.
I get sick of scraping and cleaning scissors, all because if LSD, so I went with the Dry TrimBag on Amazon (it claims up to 2 pounds at a time can be "trimmed"). Same idea, just not on a wheel. I have not had a chance to use it yet, but if I can reduce my trim time by even 30%, I'd be happy as hell. My back and hip can't take 4-5 days of endless trimming sitting perked up on the edge of the couch anymore.
Any more than a 30% reduction in trim time, and it's just extra gravy.

Good job, man. Hope it saves you a ton of time

  14. Thanks. It's a relief to get everything into containers without worrying about assembling a big crew or working myself to the bone. Can always go back and clean 'em up later. Good luck with your new machine

  17. Motorized it and put a cover on it. Made a second drum for screening the trim.

  18. I like to think the world needs guys like me... Lol just kidding but seriously, thank you.

This year I left all the fan leaves on and just shucked all the branches right into the machine. Still works fine... Trimming is a breeze now
