Ya man i know what you mean.. The people who have never smoked pot in their life think that it is this horrible drug, when really its not at all. Ya the smoke is bad but if you were just to eat edibles you would be fine. But just keep tokin man. just tell them they need to get their facts straight.

Haha this is bad on two levels. They think you smoking is something that needs to be changed and is inherently bad, AND they think that the best way to help you is to sit around and pray not actually try and do something....

 

Just tell them that "2 working hands get more done than 1 million hands in prayer."

 

It sucks even more when its your parents saying it.

 

I would ask why a christian is praying for you for smoking weed at all.

If you subscribe to the whole God deal, you would understand that weed is a plant, which was made by God on the third day of Earth's existance (Genesis 1:11). Hemp oil was reportedly used by John the Baptist during the baptism of Jesus himself. There is also no mention of sin by smoking weed in the bible.

So why on earth is a christian critiquing you for smoking weed, when their own God doesn't have a problem with it? Are they suggesting they are a higher authority than God? Or is their God a lazy and careless God, who forgot one the commandments when he delievered them to Moses on Mount Sinai? Are they just more capable than God at identifying sinners? By the sounds of it, it is these people who need prayer because their Lord a jealous God, and is not tolerant of people trying to become godly or heavenly (Exodus 20: 4-5)

yea that is sad. honestly they are probably not even being serious, i think theyre just being dicks. my parents hate me for smoking too... especially right after i got caught, they were just always convinced i was smoking. once they got home from some restaraunt at like 1030 at night (i was 15 or so at the time) and i was in my room getting ready for bed, and they just ran in and started cursing me off and saying i was smoking, just because i was in my room. and then they started yelling at me for looking tired... even though they knew i was up til like 2am the night before. they were screaming all this shit about me being incoherently stoned and saying they were gona call the cops. theyre both just fucking crazy

ditto. i'm a christian and i toke all the time. most christians (at least most other christians that i know) think that smoking bud is sinful, mostly based on an old testament verse which refers to "pharmacy" (drug use) as sinful. but i dont think us christians need prayer just because our god is a jealous god; that would be a reason why unbelievers need prayer.
the arguments you gave weren't particularly compelling, though. a better one would be that jesus drank wine and his first miracle was to turn water to wine when they were out of booze at a party. and we all know booze is a shit ton worse than weed. thats one that i throw around pretty often and (as long as the people know that booze is worse than weed) most people find it pretty convincing.
