I’m colourblind, need help knowing if it’s ready for harvest.

As it said above I’m colourblind and can’t really tell if the trichomes are ready of if the pistons should be darker than they are. It’s been 12 weeks since I germinated the seed and it’s an OG Kush Autoflower strain. This is my first time seriously trying to grow something, and it’s grown extremely big, so I don’t want to get it wrong now.

Could you tell me if it’s not ready, time to flush, or immediately harvest otherwise it will be past the point. I tried taking photos of the trichomes too but the image quality that zoomed in was terrible. Added information, It’s a 200cm squared grow tent. A 500 watt Led Above and two on ground light sources to help penetrate all those leaves. The 500 watt led came with a vegetation and harvest switch. Though it didn’t seem bright enough with one half turned off, so I have been leaving both on. The lights are 20 hours on 4 hours off. The pistons seem lighter in the grow room with all that light, but in the photos is probably more accurate. It was germinated 12 weeks ago.And it’s an OG Kush Autoflower. If you could tell me if it’s ready for flush, harvest, or past that point that would be very helpful. Photos below. Thank you!

  2. Try taking pictures in normal light so we can see actual trichome color.

  3. I
I can give that a go tomorrow when I’m back home, but at the moment these are the only pictures I have to go off. I need to buy an actual microscope as well, I was annoyed when the best up close photos I could get were still blurry :/.

  4. Looking really good though! Also when you post pictures, can you click full size? If gives you the option when up upload pictures. Makes it easier to see pictures. For some reason I struggle opening the ones that need opening and posting full sized eliminates that for me and I’m sure others.

  5. What are the lights you have below the plants? Pretty cool idea if they’re correct spectrum.

  6. Thanks, hopefully it smokes good too, if I can get when to harvest sorted out. Originally I selected for them to be in full images, but then I had problems loading the page on my phone. Then when it did load the image would get gigantic and everything els would become really small. Then I realised if I put them in thumbnails, then it works. Then to see the largest image all you have to do is right click on the thumbnail, then select open in new tab. Or on your phone press and hold the thumbnail till open in new tab comes up and select that. This way the page loads and you also have the option to see the large full image version by opening in a new tab.

  7. Some of us auto growers believe that trichomes aren't as good an indicator for autos as for photos.
Mine always have clear, cloudy, and tiny bit of amber at the same time.
The look of an auto is a better indicator for me.
I harvest mine when there's any amber, which is peak thc potency.

Flushing is a waste of time according to
    I've never done a pre-harvest flush.

Most breeders give harvest times, and adding a week or two to that gets you close.

You could also do a partial harvest so that you can compare early and later to see which you like better.
The herb will be dry after it loses about 75% of its wet weight.
You can even fast-dry some to use the same day, but it will be a bit harsh.

  8. The one on the right that has two bulbs running off the same input, and has a lot of reach. So I have that one bulb outstretched to the far backside of the plant and one to the front right side of the plant. They are both 80w led’s and are full spectrum and designed for plant growth. The bulb on the left is just a normal lamp though. I run the 600 watt Led 20 hours on 4 hours off. Though with the other two I run them on the same 20 hours on 4 hours off, but set them to take a 15 minute break every 3 hours. This is to make sure they dont struggle too much or get too hot. The 600w can be run 24 hours Uninterrupted. The two 80 watt bulbs that run on the same power cord can be on for 14 hours uninterrupted, and the one on the left is just a normal lamp. So I figured the other 2 should get a 15 minute break every 3 hours. I will say having that extra 80w bulbs placed where I do does an amazing job. The difference in penetrating the under canopy and giving ever part of the plant light is insane. When they are on a 15 minute break you can see the drastic amount of light that it is gone from the sides and bottom of the plant without them. They have added so much growth to everything on the sides, below, and because of the way I have positioned them even the upper canopy.

Judging purely by the hairs that are all still white and standing you have a good 2/3 weeks left..

also you can turn the blurple off and use the camera flash

  10. I have been told that’s the best indicator most cloudy and a few amber. Though I can’t get good enough pictures to see if they are cloudy and I’m colourblind so telling if they are amber is difficult :/.
By the look of mine does it seem ready?
Cool, I’m watching the video while I reply to you. I mainly wanna flush for taste which they mentioned does make a difference. I doubt it makes a difference with potency though.
I thought about doing a partial harvest but I’m worried it will effect the plant. I have tried cutting and then vaping a few sugar leafs though.

  11. I’m Terrible at maths do you mean 2 to 3 weeks left? If so should I count 1 week of flushing and 1 to 2 weeks of curing as those 2 to 3 weeks. Only considering plants still mature while flushing, and I’m told even in curing there is still some development. Or should I keep giving nutrients for a week, possibly 2, then flush?

  12. Looking good
    2-3 more weeks
    Nice work

  13. Thanks Hunter! Weedhead said the same. Given I’m new to this I’ll definitely trust you two. If I can get better photos of the trichomes I’ll upload them too. Maybe a picture of how much it was all cured too. This is the first time I have seriously tried growing and I had no idea you could get this much off one plant, especially an Autoflower. If I Limit my smoking it could probably last me a year, though I’m not sure it will smoke that good close to a year from now.

  14. You have done very well! Your approaching the last hurdle where many fall. She’ll still be packing on some weight so chopping nutes now I say isn’t good. If your gonna do it then do as you say and last week or so before you actually chop.
    Then the dry 7-14days
Then the cure 14-21 day min. If you say it’s your years smokes then it will have some curing for that long and can see how it improves. Make sure you got some good air tight jars for long term storage.

when you take any pic turn of the blurple completely and use your camera flash. The trichs are the real indicator on weather or not it’s done. The hairs we can just tell it ain’t done. You might not be able to see the colour but you can see them all pointing up still. They start to change colour but they also recede.
It’s so very hard to take good pics of trichs. But for now she defo ain’t ready. It’s easier to chop too early and you get a decent window so have 3 weeks in your head, it’s a good estimate if you wanna plan to flush etc.

  15. Thanks Weedhead. Yeah this does seem to be the hardest part, knowing when is the best time to chop for best results. You’re right, definitely not good to chop if she still has room to pack on some mass and get fatter buds. I still need to do some research to get drying and curing right. But everything I have read has said curing for longer drastically improves buds. Yeah I got some large weed storing containers and some humidipack things and some mason jars too. Should be enough to do the job if I dry and cure them right. It’s pretty much winter where I live so I’ll have to be careful it doesn’t get too cold or moisture ridden, or is might develop mold. In the next two weeks I’ll get a microscope with a light to get a better gauge of the trichomes and get rid of the bluish light while taking photos. Cool I’ll plan with 3 weeks in mind, and do a tiny flush. The video provided above made a good argument, so I’ll only make it for 6 days. Thanks for your help, hunters and all who have and or will comment.

  16. Get a clip on macro lense for the phone, that is the best way to check IMO. I have a loop, a USB mivroscope and the clip on lense. Lense ia the winner all the way and cheaper than microscope

  17. The pictures of the trichomes above were taken with a clip on macro, though I think I was just unlucky and bought a shit one that is only 30x mag and very shaky even when still. I’ll definitely buy something much better within two weeks. And this time not cheap out XD.

  18. Did you also use the zoom on your phone? You have to use both together for best results.

  19. Yeah I did, and then that was still the best the macro would capture.
