Hydroponic Options

  1. Hello Grasscity.

I've been lurking for quite some time on this forum but now I need help. I'm about 4 weeks into flower on my soil grow and I've decided to go hydro after this harvest. I'm just not sure what system I want to run. I currently have a mother in a BB and that is working very well but I want more plants in the area under my light. Here are the details.

    Closet: 2x5x8
    Light: 400 HPS (cheap)
    Reflector: 15x20 hood
Ventilation: 4" inline fan through carbon filter connected
6" inline duct fan bringing air from attic
12" osc fan to move air

I've been using the size of the hood as a guide for light coverage and going by bud formation I'm more or less accurate. Given i have about 20" of useable area in my closet what would be the quickest harvest for the most weight?

I've been thinking for a while now about a drip system. I would use 6" pvc tubes to hold 2" net pots. This would have either one or two rows of net pots per tube and there would be two 6" tubes. I would use my rubbermaid 18 gallon tub that I already own as my res. I think that this system would be the lowest possibility to flood my house. I'm planning on putting 16 or so plants in this area. This also has the advantages of only having to check my ph and ppm in one res rather than the 3 or so I would have to with a bb system. So what do you all think? Should I go with this drip, bb, some sort of aeroponics? I'm all ears.

  2. Just a question here. I'm going to be running a drip system. I have 3" netpots suspended every 5" in 5" square pvc tubes with a 2 gph emitter zip-tied to each netpot. I'm rooting clones in rockwool cubes and plan on putting hydration on top of the cubes once the clones root. My main question here is would it be of enough benefit to do for me to run a pvc pipe with 360 degree misters every so inches or would i just we wasting my time? I was thinking that the emitters would always drip over the same roots throughout the cycle. The aeroponic element to the misters would fix this potential problem. Here are a few pics.

tl;dr Do I need to add misters in addition to the drip system?

  3. Anyone have an opinion? I wanted to finish construction before this harvest in about a week. Help?

  4. Sprayers would be good addition.

  5. If your going to run a pump ,I second the sprayers . Add a airpump or someway to get fresh air into the reservoir . I like to add an air line into the inlet of the pump .You can control the amount of air by how close it is to the impeller . So r you going to grow , sex , move every other ?

  6. Thanks Bohbo.

I'll get on the sprayers. An airpump for the res was already in the plans. I have the pump and stones and marine epoxy sitting on my desk. No need to sex as I'm working from certain female clones now. I have a few unsexed seedlings but I have more than enough clones to fill those netpots. Did that answer your question?

  7. A little foggy . i thought you were going from seedlings .
