I have a walk in closet in my high rise apartment, I was planning on doing a ebb and flow grow there. I was planning on building it myself, I was going to buy a tent to control temp. I got a few questions. Is it ok to grow cannabis in a high rise apartment ? There is no way I can vent without making it obvious to guest. Is this necessary ?? I was going to do everything except venting.
Marijuana doesn't care if you're in a high rise or on the bottom floor. It's an equal opportunity plant....so I'm not sure how else to answer that question... That being said, I am guessing you have some sort of maintenance personnel in your building? I would just make sure however you set it up, you have a contingency plan in place if you need 'move' your grow in a 24hr period. Cannabis plants get noticeably fragrant in about their 4th week of growing and the intensity of the smell becomes more apparent as the days go by....remember, this is (typically) a 3 month grow period. If you have a lot of gatherings, company, family/friends, etc...you need to make preparations for that. Regarding venting...you didn't give any sort of layout of your home, so...it's kind of hard to make recommendations. Window, dryer vent, or up through a bathroom exhaust are good starts...
Good points overall, but where/what are you growing that's finished in 3mo? I've waited up to 8 mo's for a plant to finish. That said, I grow in a highrise with 24/7 exhaust, one in the bath and kitchen. Now i'm wondering why there's 0 odor, been growing 2yrs and 'none' of my plants stunk. I got the thc gene, i grow 21% dope, deadly, but even with the closet door closed, open it and it's nice and fresh but that's all, smell is not in my genes. As far as if they do close the bedroom door open a window, and be prepared to hide everything, my place has periodic inspections, just for general upkeep, good luck, get lots of power with a good fan, heat is worce than smell.
1 month veg + 2 months flower = 3 months.... If I had an unlimited amount of space to grow indoors, I would go a lot longer than 4 weeks of veg and 8 weeks of flower as my complicated formula above demonstrates. With that said...I am all for turnaround....growing a crop for 8 months indoor doesn't seem to make much sense financially nor fiscally.
^Yeah, I thought so too, the first seeds I bought were half male/female (hermophrodites) and the bud at 8 mo's still had clear white pisils and 0-5% bud. I make my own seeds now, and still just got dence buds. Oh and a vent cleaning company just walked into my apt while i was sleeping, door open on the storage grow and never knew he was inside until i saw the tape on the vents. Freaked me out, just reasoned it out and trusted the guy. Fuck the guy could come back masked and armed and clean me out. Always watch, and don't forget to watch.
Well thats my problem I can not use ventilation cause I have no ventilation outlet. atleast not where I want my plant. I want my plan in my walk in closet. Where no one would notice. But my closet has no ventilation outlet.
I HIGHly suggest a Carbon Scrubber for the Closet and an Ona Breeze Bucket for the Common area. Probably your best bet without doing the whole Vent shabang.
Thanks Howie, I've been debating because of my situation. But I think that definitely might help with my consideration to continue. I am just going through making a check list of all the things I must have because its a pretty decent investment. I am estimating I will be paying around $500 USD for everything. Small tent, lamp, a ebb and flow kit, lamp,fan, and a Carbon Scrubber.
how often do you have guests over? whatever your answer, if you are doing this somewhere where it's illegal, the answer to that question has to change to "never" you will want to become a hermit the less people that know about this, the less chances of you going to jail or worse
i have a hankering that 500 dollars will only feeed half ur grow needs... im planning an advanced set up, 6 bucket undercurrent,co2, bubbler stones,300w led in a 4X4...i thought i could do it for 2000$, realizing now its upwards of 4000(just the micro pore stones are 50 a peice), hydro gear is a sellers market.,because of this i see lots of do it ur-selfers that can make there op's real cheap, the tent and the scrubbber will clear out ur 5 hun, if ur as handy as the other diy'ers i think you can do it for around 1000-1500 total. make a kick ass ebb and flow system thast where youll save the most money, im getting suckedered in to buying some custom buckets,stones, uniseals from this cch20 site (which will run me almost 700 dollars for which is mostly plastic), good pick on the ebb and flow, ive heard it out performs several form of hydro. that the roots are able to absorb nutrients better than dwc. i simply picked this method because of how interesting it is lol
